The worst aftermath!

Hey everyone I got PR about 12 weeks ago. I experienced the same thing most of you did. Saw the Herald patch freaked out went to the doctor. He didn't know what it was he prescribed me steroids that did not work until one day I finally went to see a different doctor and she said it was PR. I started researching and have been trying everything! I still have the herald path still pretty active everything else has mostly stopped itching. I am now just left with scars, ugly scars everywhere 😦 I am hoping these fade and the hearld patch doesn't stay active and more comes back

    Maria,

It will gradually heal. Mine took about five months before the scars were less noticeable.

I was using grape seed oil on my skin since coconut oil was more viscous. The skin definitely felt good. But I am not sure if it helped the recovery though.

Those are not scars. Those are just skin discolorations called hyperpigmentation. They will fade to body color in a few weeks. If you want to cover them, use an ultra high pigment foundation, like Dermablend (which is made for people with vitiligo and varicose veins) . "Normal" foundation will not cover the spots. Hang in there, you are almost done!

I just picked up my phone to come on here and see if anyone knows how to get rid of the scars and this popped up in my email thats crazy but I just put neosporin on them. i have no idea of it will work or not but my PR also started 12 weeks ago. Im now left with light spots looks worse now because i just got a tan at the beach. Im also searching for a solution. Seems like it just will take time.

I had PR last year and my doc did didn't know what it was either which caused me quite a bit of additional anxiety too! I remember wondering if it would EVER go but i promise you it does. My herald patch took a long time to fade and no - it won't reactivate. Like any virus - it has a life span and it sounds as if you are nearly there to recovery. As soon as the spots start to dry and look a bit flaky you are only a few weeks from it all being over and your skin back to normal x

Seems like I have had this forever now dealing with the marks but a sigh of relief, thank you!

i do remember it seeming to take forever but once its gone - it soon becomes a distant memory very quickly. As soon as the marks went a bit scaly/silvery it was only a few weeks before most of them had gone. A few stayed for a little longer but honestly - soon you won't believe you even had it x

    hi Maria

i had the rash for 3 months and covered from beck to ankles with it and like you covered in white patches where it had been and yes they do go eventually and this holiday my tan is normal so keep hanging on in there and you will soon be through it!!

I totally agree with everyone on this forum that PR makes you feel ugly and awful and fir some reason i also lost my hair at the same time which made me feel even uglier but have not heard of this happening to anyone else with PR and it was put down to stress!

Anyway the reason for this post is to say yes PR is awful but I promise you will feel so much pleasure and excitement when you finally see yourself returning to normal so focus on that if you can and yes my hair has come back and is very healthy and for some reason curly 😉

    take care all x
