There is hope!!!

I wanted to post this as I'm hoping maybe this might help others in some way as this is coming from someone who has had to work extremely hard to get better.

I will always struggle as I have for many years of my life but I'm working to accept my depression and anxiety and work with it instead of against it which I was previously. Trying to get rid of it made it 100 times worse and I ended up feeling like a failure so I decided I couldn't keep trying the same thing and expecting different results so I researched and binge watched You tube and learnt how to calm my nervous system through breathing techniques, movement that involved pulling, pushing as this releases calming chemicals in the brain. I read Nicola Bird little peace of mind and The body keeps the score by Bessel van der kolk life changing books!! I also took fluoxetine as I learnt about my fight, flight and freeze. what I'm trying to say is tablets don't work on their own, its determination to get well and you can if you put the hard work in then it becomes easier to manage as you will have built up your own coping strategies. Good luck on your journey, you will get there!! x

That is so lovely to hear, I have also been on the same dreadful journey, but I kept saying to myself you will get better just keep fighting, it has taken a long time, but you have to be prepared to wait, let the fluoxetine do there work and try to think positive, I know its difficult but its a fight don't let it win, it took me many weeks, just sitting at home, not able to eat or sleep, constant shakes, and a very low mood, lost 3 stone in weight, but I made it, I am a happy confident person now,

I would never recommend changing tablets, maybe a stronger dose, but stick with it, you will get better like we both have, good luck on your journey.x

Thank you so much, you also inspire me, if I can only help just one person that makes me happy, never ever give up, I have had depression twice, first time many years ago, back then I got better, and this time it made me believe I would get better again.

I am 77 and never gave up hope X

I so agree I have suffered since being 15 years old and I'm 40 soon. I can honestly say I am still learning and will always try and help myself and I think you can at any age.

      You take care x

Lisa you are amazing, depression is very hard to deal with, especially having it at such a young age, unless you have had depression its hard to understand, and explain what you feel like, but we are both better now, and we will keep thinking positive. x
