There is light at the end of the tunnel

It’s been a long times I last posted here……   I just wanted to let you guys know that if you just 1 or major vertigo attacks and it’s not a constant struggle, there is hope!    When I had mine last June, I never thought I would be to do Crossfit again, but I started going back in August to do simple stretching and went from there.   In September, I had to rebuild my “foundation”  and to date, I’m now getting into handstands and PR’ing my weights..   I know it’s hard, but I think the trick is to try to move.  When I was still super dizzy and could barely even see, I would walk around my house, holding on to the wall and then eventually I started walking outside and the rest is history!      Sometimes I still get light headed and dizzy, but I find it’s associated with my allergies and an allergy pill will help curb it.   I also find that exercising does help to get rid of this problem….  Getting my back & neck adjusted and has really helped over the moths as well!

I’m not here to brag.  I know a lot of you are suffering and I’ve been there and I know it’s horribly scary and very tiresome.  I just wanted to let folks know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and to not despair.

I also do a lot,of things that in olve movement inside and out. But I,pay aprice  for it as it makes my dizziness worse and am also exhausted, oftenfor days  after.  I Guess it's all, according what type,of dizziness it is.

    Hi Sarah,

I'm new on here and this gave me some encouragement. I am 3 months in with vestibular neuritis and some days I feel like I will never feel like myself again. I just started physical therapy and we have only been working on my neck so far. It's frustrating because some days I feel just as bad as I did on the first day. For me I haven't necessarily had vertigo, but I am intensely dizzy every day and have a sense that my body is floating or falling. My ears feel very full. It's hard to explain but my eyes feel very distorted, almost like when I try and focus my eyes on an object everything around it moves. I have had every test possible I think and they've all been negative so at least now I can focus on the problem and not worry about having some terrible other disease. I know that getting the rest of my body back in shape will help but I just can't get myself moving. I'm scared to do anything really because of how uncomfortable I feel all the time. I too have bad allergies. Anyways, I am encouraged to hear that you have had success and I'm open to any advice you might have!

Moving around helped me... walk around your house or apt. Just even 10 minutes. I wanted to lay around and that doesn't help! Stay away from or limit your caffeine and alcohol use..... I also rubbed frankenscence oil (spelling ?)) Behind my ears and back of my neck...... That stuff has great healing properties.... I Alsop drank a ton of peppermint tea. Another great home remedy for allergies...... try a chiropractor. My PT didn't really help. it wasn't until I started to get adjusted, I saw massive improvement.

I will definitely try all of that! Did you notice that you would start to feel better and then relapse again? That is what is so discouraging. I was really starting to feel better then had a horrible week where I think I was fighting off a cold, stopped doing my exercises and I haven't felt better since. It's frustrating because people expect you to slowly get better every day and it's not predictable. Today, the weather is cloudy rainy and humid and I feel extra sluggish and foggy headed sad

Thank you Sarah.  I'm glad you posted.  It gives me hope.  I do exercise and I'm doing the PT as prescribed.  I've been dealing with this since last September and it feels hopeless at times.  You say the Chiropractor helped your situation?  What did he do that helped?

Just did basic adjustments.   I explained what happened and he went from there....   He took some Xrays to make sure nothing else was wrong....   At first, I was going in like once a week and then the appts were getting further apart.  Now I go every few weeks to maintain it.    Not sure if would help everyone, but it helps me.

I was at the point, I was willing to try anything!!
