There is some light at the end of the tunnel

I just want to tell you that after watching my hubby suffer with awful painful attacks of TN to the point where he didn't eat or drink anything for a week, got admitted into hospital due to dehydration and pain and even thought of doing himself in we have finally got the help he needed for so long. For years the doctor tried to fob him off and tell him to take more drugs - he was in the end taking 1600mg's of Carmazapine and even that didn't touch him - even his consultant told him to keep taking the tablets when we begged for his help. In the end they finally realised that the pills weren't a cure and he got admitted for a numbing injection to freeze the lower branch of the nerve. Since the op he has been able to get his life back and is once again the chap who was pain free - i urge anyone who is going down the same route to beg for the freeze, we know its not the cure but it certainly gives some big time relief from the terrible pain you suffer, even if it only lasts 6 months that's 6 months of hell you don't have to live through - good luck

 I think it's disgusting the way your husband has been treated. They obviously didn't take him seriously and chose not to believe how much pain he was in. What do you have to do to be listened to? What will he do if the pain returns?

Thankfully the consultantant is a little more understanding now and has said that if it starts to come back he will just top up the freeze again as he wont let things get as bad as they were before. It was bad to think of what he needed to go through before something was done and thats why i urge everyone to be a pain in the butt and make sure they get the treatment they deserve
