These supplements are a miracle for my exhaustion

Hi guys, I don't usually write on forums so I apologise if this is badly written or it takes me a while to reply to anything but I thought it was really important to share what I have found from trying out various different supplements and medications to help with my everyday exhaustion, sleepiness and brain fog.

Around 2 years ago my CFS had gotten to a point where I couldn't continue in my job, I couldn't go shopping, I couldn't concentrate or do much apart from rest almost all day, almost everyday - not ideal - with an overwhelming fatigue even when I stayed in bed. The doctors found nothing wrong with me of course and I was shipped off to exercise therapy! For someone who was at a point where they could just about get out of bed, feeling like they'd already just done a marathon, this was a bit of a slap in the face and left me feeling very hopeless.

But I decided to try out as many different supplements as I could find that are supposed to help with CFS in terms of energy levels and boy do they work!

I realised today just how much. I'm trying out a fasting detox where you're supposed to rid your body of toxins and only take certain ingredients, so (bad idea!) I stopped taking my supplements, and twack! That same old debilitating exhaustion hit me like a brick wall! I realised how ill I actually am, and how well these little pills work for me.

So this is what I'm taking;

N-acetyl l-carnitine (400mg + alpha lipoic acid (200mg) - this comes in one tablet and I get it from Holland and Barretts, it's fairly expensive but they have it at half price at least twice a year and I just buy a load then. I take one of these a day, in the morning with breakfast. I have tried the L-carnitine on it's own but I didn't find it anywere near as useful. This really helps with energy and especially with recovery post-exertion.

CO-enzyme Q10 (300mg) - I take one of these, every morning. I've tried cutting it out before to see if it was helping - as I do with everything- and sure enough, that good old hazy fatigue started to creep back

Capsicum fruit (250mg) - This is supposed to help with inflammation and like the other supplements, really helps with clearing away the brain fog and helping me feel like a half normal person! I take 3 a day, with breakfast.

WIth this handy mix, I have enough energy to run a little business from home! The best thing is the everyday exhaustion is gone, but I still need to take it easy and rest when I've been out and about - walking seems to be a big trigger. But even then, I'm nowhere near as bad as I used to be.

Please let me know any of your experiences with these or other supplements!

    Hi,

I took co-enzyme Q10 for over a month, did not get any help from it. But I know it's been helpful for many people. Now taking acetyl L-carnitine plus D-ribose 10-15 g/day; I think D-ribose is the one that helped me most. Now I don't even need to take it so much and I still don't get exhausted during the day.

I'm going to try out Capsicum, thanks for the tip. I also recommend everyone to try out low dose naltrexone (for at least 2-3 months), because it does miracles to some and it helps moderately most CFS people.

Hi, are you buying the acetyl L-carnitine + D-ribose combined or seperately? I hadn't come across D-ribose before but I think I'll definately give it a go, is 10 - 15g a standard dose?

Also, where do you buy your low dose naltrexone from? Many thanks.

They are separate products. There is no standard dose really, but for CFS they recommend relatively large  doses, i.e. 10 - 15 g. Previously I used Doctor's Best pills, but you'd need to eat ridiculous numbers of those to get to 15 g/day.

Good luck, I hope it helps! (PS: Would be interesting to know after you've tried!)

Thanks so much for your tips! on searching I see it seems to have helped a lot of other people with cfs too so I'm definately going to order some now. I think as it has to do with increasing energy in the muscles and my cfs is very much exhaserbated by exercise/physical exertion it hopefully will do the trick, fingers crossed!

Will try and remeber to update this in a couple weeks with how I get on!

Yes indeed, it worked like a medicine for me, too. After I started using it, I haven't spent a single day in bed, like I used to, practically every week. I'm in Finland. Last time I ordered 5* 340 g and only paid about 8 dollars for shipment (and 14 % tax - still ridiculously cheep when compared to prices up here). But the best before date was in Aug 2014, so it was probably more than I manage to spend by that time.

Unfortuently the so called supplements for M.E./ C.F.S. seem to only have the placebo effect and dont really help at all.
