I have a dvt in my thigh it is the whole length of my thigh, I don't get much pain in my thigh but my god the paid from my knee to my toes!!!!!!!

I got the dvt after surgery and have had it now for just over a month.

The pain initially was excruciating then went to really bad cramp now it's a mixture of the two ,I have just returned to work after 7 weeks off sick and ill tell you thats hard going im a medical receptionist.

Trying to find something to put my leg on when im at my desk and trying to walk a little

Dr's haven't advised me how much rest/activity ratio I should be doing during a day and I am trying to get my life back to normal.

Some days I have to use crutches to help me get about .

Medication I am on mst 25 mg morning and at night , oramorph and paracetamol during the day and still in pain.

Any ideas anyone?

I'm trying to get life back on track after being so ill prior to surgery now this please help......

I have spoken to my anticoagulation nurse today told him I was sent to the hospital and sent away , explained about how much pain I am in he said he is disgusted that the hospital didn't rescan me

He and a dr think the clot may have got bigger so im booked in to be re scanned Friday and to see a dr and have medication changed I feel a bit like I'm getting somewhere xx

Hi Jackie, from another set of posts too, have you had a diagnosis about the swelling yet? Why do they say swelling will go away?

      Sheila.

Hi, Good luck tomorrow. Do ask about clot removal as so extensive. Don't forget to ask about the possibility of May Thurner syndrome and Post Thrombotic Syndrome. let us know how you get on. Sheila.

Hi Jackie, did you mention MTS to them? I dont know where else they scan inside the vein and detect compression due to MTS apart from G&St T. Maybe your GP could find out. Frustrating for you. Sheila.

Seen consultant this morning I have post thrombotic syndrome 😢

Sorry to hear that, but not surprised. What else did he have to say? did he mention MTS? and what happens next? As you know my son had PTS and is 6 months post stenting at St Thomas' London. He has no pain and only tiny amount of residual swelling.

I haven't said so far but we did consider suing the hosp where he had the surgery as he wasn't told about DVT and he wasnt anti coagulated after discharge. We went through the complaints procedure, Pals, meeting with the Trust and they did say they had changed some of their procedures as a consequence of his life changing DVT. We went to Ombudsman as well and were advised that we were unlikely to win as the DVT was 29 days post surgery. We were pleased to have made a difference though so that others are less likely to suffer.

      Do keep in touch.
