Thigh muscle pain and hip pain

I had a partial knee replacement on Nov 20th, 2017! My knee is healing well except for this terrible thigh muscle pain, hip pain and sometimes I think it’s my sciatica! It’s hard to tell! I’m still going for therapy! No pain med helps! I was told it may be from the tourniquet during surgery, but it’s been over 6 weeks now! Has anyone else have this problem?

I am 8 weeks post TKR. I had awful pain in thigh at 6 weeks. I was advised that this was quad muscle pain and that the was a result of quads being so inactive for so long and now I was asking them to work. The pain was explained as it being the quads way of saying I don’t want to work thank you. The PT did three great massages into quads and then this disappeared.

I also had hip pain but this was due to the way I was walking after operation. That starting to ease as I’m really concentrating on walking properly.

    Hope it eases soon.

Thank you! It does help! I’m going to to make an appointment with my Massage therapist! I keep complaining about this to my PT therapist and all he does is give me more excersizes to do, which helps a little!  But it sure is taking a long time to heal! I am  also going to try to concentrate also on walking properly! Thank you

I was told the thigh muscle pain was due in part to a tourniquet that is used.  It was quite painful, but did get better.

You can get sciatica by walking "funny"...that is, favoring one side because of pain.  You end up throwing your hips out of line or locking the SI joints.  Chiropractor...2X/week for a few weeks.  I got mine at 5 weeks post op.  Here's more...

Also, you need to start your strength exercises to rebuild your dead quads, glutes and core...

Very important to rebuild the musculature to support the knee and get to climbing stairs normally again.  Takes time and work.  First, fix the sciatica.  Very normal...

Thanks! This is such a long process, although I am 65 years old! Thought this would take longer due to my age also!
