Think BV but home test came back negative?

Ive recently been having problems with a strong odour that I cant really explain. I took a home test that you can buy in boots and it came back normal so left it at that and put it down to being sweaty. However I've just started seeing this guy and noticed that after having sex I have a very strong fishy odour downstairs (he ejaculated inside me). This has happened in the past with other partners but I naively put it down to being just a normal smell of semen! After googling it is now see it is a sign of bv.

So today I bought the bv pessaries from boots (balance active) and am hoping they work. Was just wondering if anyone else had experience using these and if anyone has any other suggestions?

There's so much info out there im finding it hard to digest it all so was just hoping for some basics because I'm getting a bit worried that I have had this problem for so long now and done nothing about it!

    Hey there!

    Yeah a fishy odour sounds pretty much like BV

    I tried using the balance activ pessaries i think they helped but it didn't fully cure it for me

    What's been working for me are the probiotic capsules by Canesflora because they're reintroducing good bacteria so rebalancing the PH

    you insert one every day for six days then once a week for four weeks. I'm glad the major companies are starting to pick up how much of a problem bv is to so many women

    Make sure you wear cotton underwear, don't use scented stuff down there or scented bubble bath etc

      Thanks for the info smile ill look into this. I was wondering also will this return every time I have sex from now? Even if he pulls out could his precome still upset the balance? Is the only way to avoid it using condoms? It's always been a massive embarrassment for me that really sucks the romance out of the moment..not to mention the smell doesn't leave for a couple of days no matter how much I shower!

      I'm sorry I can't be of any help with bv related to sex because i'm a virgin haha 

      There are plenty of other people on this site that will be able to answer your questions though with more experience

      I got mine from Boots!

      No worries and thank you for the info I will pop into boots and ask for them once I've given these pessaries a go!
