Think I have a uti but negative dipstick

So for the past week or so I've felt like as soon as I have been to the toilet I need to go again, but if I try hardly anything comes out. If I leave it a while I tend to get a usual amount, but I do drink quite a lot. When it first started I thought it was just in my head, but it just seemed to get worse and worse, and then some cramping pain in my lower stomach started, and it tends to smell stronger. I started to fear I was pregnant but I'm on the birth control pill, had my last withdrawal bleed as usual and not missed any pills since or been late, but it is still a big fear of mine simply because I have also been feeling nausea. My next withdrawal bleed is due in around a week. I have also been sent for swabs for infections due to the increase of vaginal discharge, and during this I was also tested for a UTI through a dipstick test which came back negative?? I've got to do a morning urine tomorrow and drop it in to send away..however it could be a week till I get the results or even see my doctor...has anybody got any ideas/help??sadsad

The dipstick test is not accurate in many cases although your gp may not believe you - just research on the Internet. I had exactly the same - I sent a sample privately and then found the infection when the go told me I had no uti..

Oh really? I have to do a sample in the morning and take it in...I had been quite a few times before hand so that may have affected it too. How do you do it privately?

I used m e d i c h e c k s there may be more. They found 3 infections that the go didn't plus the nhs culture only shows an infection if greater than 100,000. One of my infections was 10,000. Really hope you get to the bottom of it.

Okay thank you, I'll keep this in mind if I don't get any positive results. Thank you! Have you been sorted now?

Turns out I am actually urinating quite a lot each time unless I go straight after- really hoping it is a UTI still though as pregnancy is a big worry for me- even though it seems unlikely too

Not yet, my withdrawal bleed is due next week so going to see as there should be such a low chance.

Just to update everyone- it went away slightly during my withdrawl bleed, which confirmed that I wasn't pregnant- however it came back and worse a week afterwards. The doctor is clueless as my urine culture came back clear- i have been put on antibotics to see if it helps, but I don't have much faith sad
