Think I may be getting tonsillitis?

I can't get into the doctors till tomorrow but since all day yesterday my throat has felt like I have had something lodged in it all day and today I woke up with it again but even worse, also yesterday I noticed white stuff on my uvula (that dangly bit in your mouth) and tonsils are apparently swollen according to my flat mate. My main part is my throat is getting more and more tighter as the day goes on. Not sure what it could be

    Hi Rhiannon,

If in the highly unlikely event that your throat becomes so tight that you

Have a problem even swallowing saliva, you may have a condition

Known as QUINCY, if so go straight to your nearest A and E Dept.. I am

Sure that it is probably just a simple throat infection, but please keep an eye on it... regards, take care... Deirdre..

Thanks for the feedback :-) hopefully that isn't the case. Just frustrating when my throat feels like I have a rock in it. I was actually going to call the night doctors out tonight as it is very uncomfortable to deal with and don't want it to keep getting worse. My throat is sore but it's like I have something big clogged in there and it feels like it's getting bigger. Hopefully the doctor can help me out :-)

It does sound like tonsillitis. All that I can suggest is that you put soluble aspirin in a small amount of water and gaggle it. This will help with the inflammation and soreness till you see your doctor.

Thank you, unfortunately I don't have any so I'll have to stick with salt and water gargle solution :-) thanks. I'll update tomorrow on what it is.

You have been blessed with helpful advice. For myself I would phone 111. If they think the out of hours GP is right they will arrange that. If an emergency they may send you to A&E. Whatever, I would not leave a restriction in the throat to a self diagnosis nor a diagnosis tomorrow. If it is serious tomorrow may be too late.

It hasn't stopped me from breathing yet but if it gets too bad tonight I'll just call dial a doctor for it to come to my place as it's free :-)

Keep in mind, an adult without air has less than five minutes. Even very restricted breathing, and I have twice suffered that, is very disressing indeed and you feel the outcome to be very uncertain.

i had tonsilitus when i was 14 i had nothing for it . to long winded to go into . shall we just say bad parents. i woke with no voice high temperture and tight throat i suffered for 2 weeks in pain with absolutly no relief not even an asprin , by the time i got my self to the doctors , he told me it had ran its course and was on the way, he said if it comes back again he would suggest removal .

    touch wood it never did.

all 3 of my kids had tonsilitus at 14 i wanted to take them to doctors knowing how i suffered but they refused . i just gave them loads of liquid and cold compresses it ran its course and known of them have had a repeat .

but you must judge for your self . best get a diognoses so you know what your dealing with though. hope you feel better soon

Thank you, I asked my mum if I have had tonsillitis before and she said I have but can't remember what it was like. Just don't understand the white stuff on my uvula, my throat is getting tighter and tighter as the days go on and my tonsils are swollen so I was thinking it could all be to do with tonsillitis but wasn't too sure. Oh well I will find out tomorrow as I my doctor wants to see me anyway :-)
