Think I may have a Cyst

Hi everyone

Thank goodness I've found this forum - have been reading posts and all sounds quite familiar, but I'd like to put down my symptoms just to get some re-assurance (or not!) that they sound like your own experiences. No doubt I'll have to see the doctor at some stage, but dreading it.

I've always suffered from pain in the ovaries when I'm ovulating. I'm 45. A couple of months ago the pain carried on through the whole of my cycle and into the next - lasted about 4 weeks or so - it wasn't as localised as my normal pain and I had good days with only a little discomfort and bad days when I felt both my ovaries were throbbing. Apart from that I didn't feel unwell, and the pain wasn't so bad I needed painkillers.

Anyway, it went away and I breathed a sigh of relief suspecting I may have picked up an infection.

It's now back again, but completely localised in my right ovary - again, it's an infection type throbbing (like when you get a really painful spot). Then a couple of nights ago (and please excuse me being graphic) I passed a really hard stool which I could feel hurting the ovary area. A few minutes after I'd finished I had the most excruciating pain all across my lower stomach & groin - it was so bad I couldn't sit, stand or lie down and had to writhe around. I was very frightened as it made me feel quite woozy. Luckily my husband was in and he was great. It passed off after 10 or 15 minutes and now, I feel much better although the ovary still feels a little sore, but not so bad as before.

Does this sound familiar to anyone. I suspect I may have had a burst cyst?I've been googling the symptoms and naturally suspecting other things like ovarian cancer.

I'd be really grateful if somebody could respond to this.

Thanks

Carol

ps - my periods have been longer and getting more irregular so I could be starting the menopause as well

    Hi

The symptoms do sound familiar thats how mine started with intense pain when going to the toilet.

I think you should go and see your Gp just to make sure though because if it is a cyst they arent very quick at getting things sorted so the sooner you go the better

About the periods a few of the girls have also had irregular periods so it may not be the menopause

As I say go to your Gp it might be nothing but better to put your mind at ease as worrying may make the symptoms worse.

Good luck and keep us up to date.

    Hi Tracey

Thanks so much for replying - I don't feel so worried now having read through a few more posts on the forum.

Yes, will try and get to the GP - as you say it takes a while for them to get things sorted

    Best wishes

Hi Carol, Cysters, sorry I've not been in touch lately, I've just start.ed a new job as a T.A. I love it. Takes your mind off things. Carol you must see your GP asap, have him refer you for an ultrasound just to check everythings ok, don't second guess but also don't think the worse. I waited 9 months for my next appointment, finally plucked up the courage to visit GP, he tells me he was waiting for me to get in touch. This is your life. Look after number 1.

    Take Care.
