Think I may have vertical heterophoria. Who should I see in the UK?

Hey.

I believe that I may have vertical heterophoria. I have been for an eye exam in the last few weeks at an opticians, but I'm unsure as to whether or not they would have tested for this, since I have read that opticians usually do not pick this sort of thing up.

I am wondering who I could see in the UK that would definitely test for this? As this would hopefully put and end to my awful symptoms.

If you need any information let me know.

Given that vertical Heterophoria is a misalignment of the eyes, this should be picked up by eye testing at an opticians. However, if you have concerns that it won't, go see your doctor who can refer you to a specialist.

Yeah I know, but I've read that because the misalignment can be so subtle it is often not picked up by regular opticians such as specsavers.

It's just that my symptoms seem to match it so much that I'm almost preying this is what's wrong with me. I just want a resolution so bad.

well you've just answered much of your own question - book a doctor's appointment.

I will do. Hopefully they can refer me and not just play it down as something else.

My eyes tend to always want to relax and go out of focus. My vision is fine, I can read and identify objects close and far away. But it feels like the muscles in my eyes always want to relax, leaving me just gazing into space.

hello I have same issue , I always feel dizzy in busy places and first I thought I am Autistic and I get sensory overload but I bought an Ear Loops which reduces the noise but i still feel dizzy, still something with my eyes. It happens If i am walking with the trolley or basket and browsing products like looking left and right and left and right side so i don't miss any products and this also causes me dizzynes and i have to turn my head very slowly basicly but still hard to avoid. Also If too busy and people constantly passing by that also makes me dizzy .

please reply for my message what was your problem after all

Hi, did you get anywhere with this? I have suffered for years with dizziness/light-headedness in supermarkets, and I also feel it when I'm driving. I had to stop driving because of it.

I really hope I can get this fixed.
