Think I've had oral cancer for 2 years

I am so scared...I've had two patches on my gum for 2 years...never thought anything of them, but after a recent trip to the dentist, my life feels over. he said he's concerned about these two patches and if they didn't go away after a cleaning, we'd have to get in a specialist and biopsy. they didn't go away after the deep cleaning. I saw a doctor and she said she didn't know what they were and has referred me to a specialist. it could be weeks before I get an appointment, and in the meantime, I am beside myself with anxiety and fear. I want to live. if I've had this for 2 years, surely it'll be an advanced stage, right? can I still survive this?

I feel like I am going to have to be institutionalized, because I can't Calm down. I just want to survive this, but I am so scared that after 2 years , I am screwed. please help me.any advice or knowledge will be ever so grateful.
