Thinking of switching from Zoloft to lexapro. Any suggestions or advice

I'm considering switching my Zoloft to lexapro due to the non stop drowsiness I have thru the day and I can't take my meds at night cuz of insomnia and I don't know what else to do. It has helped my anxiety but the no motivation every day is getting old. Anyone with some feedback please.

    Hi

I don't have much advice except I've been on Zoloft for a few months now, slowing titrating up. Currently on 62.5, I am in a place where I don't know if I need More or a different med. I know that Z has helped but I'm still having my anxiety symptoms. I was considering the same thing about a med switch. How much Z are you taking?

I am currently on the same dose as you. 62.5 mg. I seem to be doing better in the past week so I think I'm gonna tough it out. I don't wanna go off and have to start all over again with another medication with side effects and the chance it doesn't help at all. Right now my anxiety is about 80-90% gone. So that's saying something. My goal is to only be on the medicine for 6 months and I seen my doctor yesterday and she agrees. I've been on it a little over two months now so I'm gonna ride it out as long as it's helping the anxiety.

my goal is 6 months too. however my doc thinks I should go up to 75. I tried that for a few days and I didn't like how I felt. so I went back down and that seems better. I do still have days that I have several of my anxiety symptoms...usually I know why I am feeling that way. Do you experience that? I guess I thought that any "flares" wouldn't be quite a bad as they are on a medication. have you had anxiety for a long time? did something bring it out? I have been dealing with mine for a year. It was triggered by a health scare. my health is fine now but I still have the anxiety. it sucks.

Yea. I said that I would go up to 75 if I needed to but right now I'm fine where I am. I do get spouts of anxiety when I'm stressed but it's manageable. If it gets to where I'm uncomfortable I take a half of an Ativan. My anxiety started in April this year due to depo provera birth control. I am due to be off it the end of this month so I'm hoping I will continue to improve. Mine in the beginning was a health scare as well.  Thought I had a heart attack. Was admitted to hospital and everything. Tons of tests done. It was very scary. And I do agree. Anxiety sucks. It's the worst thing ever. I hope you continue to improve as well.

thanks so much for listening...sounds like our anxiety is similar. Im scared to keep going up and I don't want to be on this stuff forever! We have had some challenges with my son recently (he is almost 10) and that has been feeding my anxiety. I realize Life will always present issues and I just was hoping that once my health was controlled the anxiety would go away. I guess not. Even so, I think I can feel better than I do. How long do you think I should give the 75mg a try??

I would try to go up to 75 and see how you feel. If it's too much go back to the 62 for a few days and then try it again. Unless the side effects are severe that is. How long have you been on the dose your taking?
