third day on sertraline and now I'm laid up

Well I thought things were going well, started sertraline on Saturday was ok and was ok Sunday, took it this morning and within half hour I was being sick n darent leave the bathroom, I'm struggling to keep my eyes open and keep going hot and cold. Spoke to docs and he said it's not a side effect so I must have a bug, I haven't been anywhere!!! Has anyone else had this or is it no something sertraline can cause. Hate how shocking I'm feeling especially after such a good weekend.

Please dont leave this alone. I was the same way and I had Sertraline Syndrome which is just awful..the more you take, the worse it gets so another chat with doc is the best thing. If he suggests that you come off them, dont do it 'cold turkey' as this is very harmful, but DO talk to your doc again. I too thought that I had a bug despite having a normal temp but being sick and hot and cold, but it turned out to be something much worse. Im not saying that this is what you have, but always bear things in mind and docs dont ALWAYS know about the side effects, while you are having to go through them.  Persue this again!! Good luck!

Thanks for your reply, I have called and spoke to doctors again and he said not to take it tomorrow and see how I feel, at the minute I'm laid on sofa fighting to keep my eyes open, I just feel completely worn out and as though I could sleep for a week but I have been sleeping fine. I have only been taking it for 3 days so doc said it won't be the meds but I can miss tomorrow to put my mind at ease. Is there anythin else I should look out for?  Thanks x

By the fact that hes told you not to take it tomorrow speaks volumes for me. You may have very bad sweating if you dont have already so be aware that this may happen. If you dont take it and it IS the Sertraline, depending on how long you have been taking it for it may take some time to get out of your system. I know you feel crappy now, but it WILL pass if its the tablets which is causing it.. you need to give it adequate time. Its a horrible feeling when you think you are on your own, but by reading some of the things on here ,you realise that people are going through the very same thing. When I had these symptoms, I was left on my own to get through it  and its VERY frightening.  You may also just need to sleep through it if you have to so be prepared for this too. If you have any more doubts, then plague your doctor again for advice...dont forget - they prescribe the meds and then expect you to deal with any side effects on your own. This is the worst part from my own experience, and if you need help then dont hesitate to call them again. Hope you feel better very soon. Take care.

Thanks Marie, unfortunately with hubby at work and a 3 and 7 year old and two school runs to do I'm not getting much chance to sleep. I called in sick at work today and think I'll have to do the same tomorrow. I'm just cold and have what I would say feels like a tension headache now, I think I'm going to take 2mg diazepam shortly as I think my anxiety it making it worse too. Thanks for your reply x
