Any reason?

Well i am 6 months on now.

I still get issues with this that and the other. I do some research on it and it shows that good recovery is slow and can take up to between 12 and 18 months.

So it is a long process. I also use a TENS machine, they give relief. But if you buy a good one maybe £50 plus it is more useful.

Another good site, like this one to look at is Bonesmart for help.

Best of luck, you'll get there in the end.

Thanks again, I will buy a Tens machine and also look at the Bonesmart website. I think if I could walk/sleep better It would help with my recovery. I read a lot about different thr's to see if I can get through this easier so I know I am on the right track.I've also checked out how to strengthen the gluteus muscles. You've been a big help, sometimes we just need someone else who has been through it to say keep going you will get there as it can be tough.

      Hi Heather.

How is it going for you now?

Ive just had my second hip done 1 week ago, so its back to rehab square 1 on the snakes and ladders board for me lol.

      Hi Ric

I didn't realise you were getting your other hip replaced so soon. Is that 8 months between?

I am 6 months post op now and believe it or not I am still the same with the same problems. 3 weeks ago the consultant has said it looks like I probably shouldn't have had my hip replaced as he had worried then about underlying nerve/other problems even though my hip was showing real bad signs of wear and tear. He has decided that I am still experiencing nerve problems even though all the tests show otherwise. I have to go to Theatre at the end of the month to get an aspiration of the hip to rule out infection. so, that's pre-assessment, self isolate two weeks before, covid test 3 days before, day bed then a ten minute aspiration. He said if it is infected it will be low grade so no treatment????? What's the point then?? If its clear he is sending me for a second opinion. Meanwhile I still have poor mobility, terrible groin pain, rubbing, grating, sharp feeling at my new hip side, can't sleep, keep getting back spasms and now the other hip is feeling the strain. I'm really fed up and getting quite down about it all. I'm continuing with physio exercises and walking daily to stop me stiffening up. (Wow that was a rant lol). Sorry!!

Good luck with you're recovery. At least you know what to do and not do. It'l be a breeze for you...

      Take care

Thanks. Sorry to hear about your news Heather. I hope things will work out in the long run for you. I have seen many saying that recovery can take up to 18 months, never mind 3 months that some will say is possible.

My second hip is much more worn than the first, and rehab will be a lot longer I am told.

All we can do is keep going.

Good luck and keep in touch.

Thanks Ric I think it helps being on this forum as it's people in the same situation so you don't mind talking about it. 6 months for a family to listen to the same old moans doesn't make you very popular lol.....My hip replacement has been a success fortunately, but the underlying issues are making me feel worse (if that's possible) than how I was before the operation. I bought a tens machine but it only helps my back region. The chiropractor won't see me now until the aspiration has been done and physio at the hospital has stopped too.

I hope you're recovery is as quick and successful as your first replacement. That's all we want. Take care. Keep in touch with you're progress and if you can think of anything that you haven't already told me regarding nerve pain let me know. I really appreciate all your help.

Thanks Heather. Take care, and keep you chin up.

We will both get there in the end.
