1st thing I noticed was waking up withou that sense of having slept on a giant campfire toasted/smoked marshmallow. I can't imagine what it was like for a non smoker to wake up to that smell in the hair every morning. I was very fortunate that my body didn't suffer adversly. No heart, lungs, etc problems. At 80 this blasted non malignent tumor is my millstone.

I was at the coffee shop Thursday morning when an old acquaintance of 40+ years made one of his infrequent appearances. On the way he stopped by and shook hands with e everyone explaining this was his final appearance. His can we was back and he was on his way out permanently. Cigerettes and booze had done their thing.
