This little rash type thing appeared and im worried it may be herpes, but im not really sure?

ive been with the same person for over two years now, and I have had this rash appear before, since him and I have been together. I thought it was maybe an ingrown hair the first time, but now that it is back in the same place I am worried. it is uncomfortable and slightly itchy/painful.

is this a herpes outbreak? image

i dont have a fever or body aches or headaches.

and the first time it appeared, it was randomly after shaving, so I thought it was ingrown hairs, or razor burn.

but now that it is back, after finally shaving again (its been awhile), in the same exact place, im worried it might be something else?

i just dont know how I would have gotten it if I have been with the same guy for well over two years and it is just now showing up within the past like 5 months.

im not entirely sure, I thought it was maybe an ingrown hair at first, because I had just shaven so I didn't really look till a day or two later.

but it is no longer white, just red and raised now.

This certainly appears as HSV. HSV can lay dormant for quite some time, making the source difficult, if not impossible to identify. Outbreaks are known to occur in the same area, although that's not an always. I hope you're able to get a swab before they start to heal (the not knowing is awful). Best wishes.
