    Hi there,

if it is any consolation i know how you feel.. I have suffered from this for about 6 years.. I have had 4 operations to date to open the infected areas. I am however going to be the bearer of bad news. these operations don't cure it, however after the first couple of days you will be in less pain..

Unfortunately i have had a reoccurences after every op however it can vary from a few days to a few months..

Like you i suffer from this problem on the top of my legs and i know how you feel about it effecting everything and making you feel really down, there is nothing i can really say - except try to keep your chin up....

If it helps one of the things that has helped me in the past is magnesium sulphate you can get over the counter in any pharmacist.. put some on a dressing and apply it to the infected area.. it draws out all of the poison (as i call it).. it's not a cure but it can help with the pain as the 'poison' building up is what causes it...

When it comes to the doctor's you have to stand your ground and demand treatment, i have never been told that i can't have an op because of the infection!! that's the whole reason to have it done!! i would seriously query that!!

get back in touch if you want to talk about anything specific about the operation or anything, i will more than happy to tell you everything i can.

    keep your chin up hun....

completley going against what Manda has said it seems that the surgery works for some and not for others. Ive had surgery on mine (at the top of my legs too) and it hasnt totally gone but it has taken away the horrible pain i was suffering. Im now waiting to get the other side done and cant wait.

Mine was also infected 1 week before surgery and on the day of the op they said they wouldnt operate as it was still infected. I told them this is the best it will ever get and that i wasnt leaving the hospital until somebody helped me! (i was v.annoyed at the time although laugh about it now) but they kept me in over night and operated the next day and i am 90% happy with mine.

I have spoken to various people on here regards their surgery and unfortunelty its not as successful in all cases. The way i see it is no pills are going to work lotions and potions calm the flare ups doen so what have u got to lose getting them taken away.

Hope your surgery goes well ...... taylor x

Hi there - I wrote another entry about how I got rid of my condition by going gluetin free. The only time I now have an out break is when I eat un-processed grains like in high fibre brad or muelsit - do give it a go - I am clear msot of the time after 20+ years of this.

    Chin up.
