This worked for me.

I'm a 37 year old Indian woman. I had Lichen Planus and Sclerosis as a teenager. I remember that nothing really worked, but one advice that the doctor gave helped- keep the region away from moisture. That helped and it went away on its own in a year or so.
It came back more than a year ago. I tried many treatments but nothing worked, not even the turmeric that we Indians swear by as an all around cure. Recently, I remembered the advice about constantly keeping the area dry and I started doing that. I have one patch on my right elbow and a larger group of patches above my left ankle. Since both are limbs, I've managed to keep them dry as much as possible. I keep my leg raised when I bathe and ensure no water touches it.
Two weeks ago, I decided to try again with a powder that I used when this outbreak started. At that time, i used to mix the powder with water into a paste and place it on the patches and secure the area with a cloth. Like a poultice. But it didn't work. I now know that it was because of the moisture. So this time, I placed a heap of the dry powder all over the patches, gently placed a tissue on top and secured it with a cloth. It has worked wonders!
I remove it once a day and scratch the patches so that the dry skin flakes off. I put more powder and tie it all up again. The patches have flattened and dried very quickly. I believe it'll go completely flat and dry within a week or two.
The powder I used is : Acalypha indica powder. It is also called Indian nettle. It goes by "Kuppameni" in South India. It is considered a weed but even a village child knows that if you have an insect bite or scratch, you just pluck the leaves, crush it in the palm of your hand and place it on the wound. It's common knowledge. In ancient Indian medicinal forms, it has long been known as a powerful medicine, especially for skin ailments. That is why I was surprised the first time around when I used it and it didn't work. Water was my enemy then, But the dry powder has worked it magic.
I wanted to get the word out for people like me who suffered from this and had to hide the ugly patches with their clothes all the time. I don't know how to tell everyone, but hopefully people frequent this forum. I hope you get this powder in countries outside India. If not, do try to contact someone in your network who can get it to you from this country. It really helps and I swear by it. Good luck with your healing!

Thanks for that, I hope it helps some people but as mine is oral it wouldn't work for me, turmeric helps me though. I hope your recovery continues.

so Gill...do you use the capsule form of turmeric or do you make a paste? I have skin and oral LP. Recently oral flares more than skin. Haven't tried turmeric yet but I will!

Hi Melhell, I use both, I started with capsules and then i heard about the paste so i started making that too with olive oil and black pepper. It seems to keep it under control. I hope it works for you. Good luck!
