Thoracic injury- Neck pain??

Posted , 3 users are following.

So about 10 weeks ago I had an accident on my push bike and gave myself a compression fracture at T4 after landing on my head/neck. That's mildy painful, but is healing pretty well, and is not my main concern.

The X-Rays I had came up clear for any damage done to my neck, and I had put the dull, stiff feeling in my upper neck down to muscle soreness from the impact. However, in the past week the pain in my neck has worstened to the point where it is almost permanently sore no matter which position it is in, even if I'm lying in bed. As I write this,, it is probably the worst it has been.

I would describe the pain as constant, dull and sort of a numb feeling. I don't have any numbness or loss of strength in any other part of my body. Gonna see the doc about it tomorrow, but thought I'd see what others thought about this issue.

Cheers in advance

I should also add that if I roll my head back, the feeling shifts to a sharp pain.

Ah I feel for you, I have cervical degeneration, multi level bone spurs and disc bulges at most levels, the pain in your neck is so draining, my advice would be go see a good chiropractor, I have my neck put in traction and it helps enormously, because of my issues it's an ongoing thing for me but hopefully it's just a cause of treatments and youl be back on track, also there are some really good neck exercises and they really do work but make sure you do there really gently your neck is a very delicate area and dosnt need forcing, try everything else first to try and prevent medication and operations as these should be an absolute last resort, good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery, let us know how you get on 😊

    Thanks for the concerns

The doc seemed to think it's a soft tissue/muscle issue- the x ray I had came up clean- so sent me to the physio. Physio worked heaps of kinks out of my neck and theres a few more I've got to keep under control in my upper back and even traps. I can keep swimming, which is the only physical activity I can do atm, and I'm to take voltarens or nurofen for the pain.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes over the next couple weeks.
