THR, Great recovery, then lots of thigh pain

I am a 63yo male and had cementless THR in Texas. I had a good to great recovery. After about 14 weeks after THR I was playing 9-holes of golf at a time and walking for 30-40 minutes at a time. I was also climbing 5 flights of stair regularly. My hip after 4-5 months was feeling great and I was very satisfied. I took it slow as my back was giving me problems (another story - likely due to not being able to stretch after thr), but after about 2 months of easing into it, we had a long holiday weekend so we played golf several days in a row. That caused my hip (actually the upper thigh right below the hip) to ache. I rested it for a few weeks following the doctor's advice (if it hurts, stop), and tried to get more active, it still hurt. I had an appointment with the doctor in 6 weeks so I said I will rest it until that appointment.Note that "resting" is normal activity and limited walking - similar to the post op recovery guidance.

Now the pain is still at the upper thigh and I have developed pain just above the mid-thigh. All of the pain is deep - not muscular.

I've had x-rays and a detailed MRI but they can't see anything unusual. They suspect "micro-movements".

I have rested it now for about 10 weeks and it still hasn't gotten better. I had a few good days so got a little more active (nothing extreme and it was all in the pool) and the next day I could hardly walk.

Any comments would be appreciated. I am thinking of using crutches for a while.
