THR: Sharp pain in leg a day after leaning forward

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi - I had a total hip replacement 4 years ago.

I had what seemed to be a random sharp recurring pain in my leg over the years. When the pain occurs, I simultaneously lose some strength in my leg.

I finally was able to figure out that the pain wasn't random. The trigger would be whenever I leaned forward at the waist for an extended period of time, generally with the front of my legs pressing against something.

A good example of a trigger would be when I was standing up while working on a jigsaw puzzle, leaning over the table, with the front of my thighs against the table edge. The next day (and sometimes the same day), the pain would reappear and last for days.

The pain isn't consistent after it has been triggered - I need to twist my leg slightly in certain ways for the pain to occur once it has been triggered. Sometimes, the pain can occur when walking once triggered.

Does anybody know what the root cause could be?

Thanks,

Alan
