Hi Meg here. Hope you are all doing well on your recovery journey! My surgery was Fri 3/18. I came home Sun/20. I live alone, and am so greatful to have many lovely friends who have been dropping off cooked goodies and healthy snak foods, spending the night and running errands to the pharmacy and such. Once I got home , my friends got the pain under control,as this was not happening at the surgical hospitol. There, they would give me 1 tramadol, and couple hrs later 2 hydros etc. then 2 hrs ,1 muscle relaxer..At home they bagged up my meds to be taken every 4 hrs period. We will do that way thru Sunday making it a week.I have a follow up w the doctor Tues 3/29. I walk every day,and do the PT exercises. The incision looks good, oozing light salmon pink colored.I change 2 xs a day to keep dry, cleaning with saline in between. Im sleeping on my back ok for now,I notice that Im tired more then usual.I can get in bed myself. I feel stiff and sore so I move around walk, bed, chair, couch, walk, pt ,bed like that. I use ice often.Im glad it all seeems to be moving along! Hows everyone else doing, especially about about 2-3 weeks post op-looking for what to expect? Staples out etc? I have 37 staples -yikes! Blessings to all!

It sounds like you're doing really well
Two days in hospital wasn't long at all.
Yes, the tiredness is surprising. Your body uses so much energy in healing there doesn't seem to be much left for anything else.
I'm 3 weeks today and living alone like you. I'm pottering round the house now, cooking, light cleaning, laundry and personal care. This morning I changed my bed - I feel like I've climbed Mt Kilimanjaro!
You've beaten me by 12 staples - I had 25 which came out last Thursday. That discharge sounds normal - I had that in hospital but the staff left the dressing on because it had dried. They said the fewer times they changed the dressing the less chance of infection. I suppose it all depends on the amount of ooze.
I'm cutting down on my pain relief now. Just one cocodamol 30/500 about every 6 hours if I remember. Sometimes I forget whuch I think is a good thing.
Keep us posted Meg. Glad the op is done and dusted for you.

I am just resting up after reverting my home from a bed sit back to a house.
I am nine and a half weeks post op and am amazed, as I am sure you will be , at the speed of my recovery .
Yesterday , for the first time, I went back to my Aqua Areobics class and could not believe the strength I now have within my operated leg.The only reason I am resting is because my unoperated hip, that is being replaced in the Autumn is playing up.
Any problems or worries, no matter how trivial you feel they may be, just come to this forum and you will receive all the reassurance you need.
Loads of good luck for a speedy recovery.
Ok paracetamol kicked in so I am now going into my back garden to prune my roses!

Sounds like you are doing great. My husband also had his surgery on 3/18 so is on the same journey as you although he doesn't have as many staples (if I remember right he has 17). Every day seems to be a little bit better which is encouraging.
Keep doing well and take it easy. So glad you have good friends to help you out.

Have you noticed lack of OA hip pain yet? That was a sweet feeling.
I am 3 weeks after an anterior approach surgery rhr. I've finished my strong pain killers and yowzer! I notice the difference. Plus my menopause symptoms have come back with a vengeance.
You are lucky to have friends around to help you.
Here's hoping you have a quick recovery!
