    Hi Sarah,

To worry is natural, we all did.  You'll be fine though and in less pain when you wake up from the op than you were when they put you to sleep.  Good luck,

    Hi Sarah

Oh me too - but this will be my second THR.

I won't tell you not to be worried, cos you will be and I admit that I'm apprehensive about the op and I've already had it done once.

If you can, try to focus on the positive - lack of pain, greater mobility etc

It is worth doing and when you have recovered, you'll wonder why you were so worried - honest!!

Hi Sarah.  I had my LTHR in October of last year & the outcome is amazing.  I was back at the office just before the 7 week point and I couldn't be happier.  I'm 65 years old, started my current job in2002 (15.5 years ago), and as I only work half a mile from my home I walked most of the time.  It used to take around 15 minutes each way.  Before the surgery & was in terrible pain & when I walked to work it took around 40/45 minutes.  Now I'm doing it each way again & it takes 17/18 minutes to walk the half mile.  You will be in excellent hands & well looked after.  Let friends & family support & help you.  Do the exercises you are given to do, (especially the walking).  You will be down to one crutch before you know it, then no support whatever.  Remember to take your meds as they really do help with your recovery.  best of success to you Sarah * please let us all know how you get on.  The world really is your oyster.  Ray

Sarah, I got pretty nervous days before. We all do its only natural. Just remember when that leg hurts the worst, and you be re assured the time is right. I am 40 and fit, on week 5 post op, had one set back, but nothing has made me think twice about the surgery at all!

Everyone here has your back. See you later hippie! smile

Sarah, I agree with all of the others, you will be glad you had the surgery.  I am 4 months out from my THR Anterior method and can honestly say I have my life back.  I was in so much pain the last month that I spent most of the day laying on the couch trying not to move.  I couldn't even do simple chores or go to the store.  Now I am playing tennis, walking miles at a time, biking, and back to my regular exercise classes.  Keep in touch on this forum, there is a lot of support here.

    Hi Sarah

Having my hip replacement was definitely the best thing I did. The actual op was absolutely nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

No more hip pain just twinges and aswelling from muscle tendon repair.

Am 8 weeks post op and now without any aids at all. I love walking again. I have my life back again and am making the most of it.

You will be fine just think about after, it will soon be here.

Hi Sarah, I'm due in the following day at lunchtime. I am worried like you, but console myself with the fact it has to be done. Probably like you, my life is not what it should be at the moment, and there is a way of fixing it. These last few days / hours of waiting will probably be all forgotten about once we are out of pain! Good luck, stay calm and tomorrow you can post here once it is all over and tell me the worry is for nothing!

Hi Sarah. I can't tell you not to worry because you will anyway. I am at 3 weeks recovery now with my 2nd thr. I worried just as much with the 2nd as I did with the 1st. But it is really a miracle to have no more hip pain. I am, as of today, not even using a cane in the house. In a few days you will be amazed. Praying for you. Let us hear how good you are doing after it is over.

Hi Sarah:  I was apprehensive as well. I just had my THR on this past Tuesday. It was, by far, the best decision I have ever made. I came out of surgery in less pain than I did when I went in. You'll do great!  Although I'm still sore, it's NOTHING like it was before I had my surgery. You got this!!!!

How are you feeling now it's all over.  It's worth it if your pain has gone. You have been suffering for so long and taking a lot of relief.

Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery.

Hi Sarah. I hope you have had your operation now. I"m on day two post op and still in hospital. Bit of a shocker but my surgeon has done a really good job from what I can tell, and the joint was in a terrible condition ( I was worried he would find it hadn't really needed doing). Obviously the physio and rehab are now the hard bit, but we will be so much better off in the end!
