Throat flutter:

Hi,

Am new to all this!

Ive been suffering with health & general anxiety & panic attacks for about 8months now,

I attend CBT for help.

Just want to see if anyone has any of the same symptoms as me.

My main one, is like a flutter that comes out of the blue in my throat only lasts a second and causes me to panic, as i get then like a adrenaline up my chest! Anyone else? Really scares me as i gasp for a breath sometimes even tho i can breathe.

I also get blurred vision, dizzy, feel like cant breathe, fast heart beat, the list goes on:

I ended up in a&e not long ago thinking i was having a heart attack as pain was down my left arm & hand was numb, got chest xray & put on heart monitor and all was fine.

All was sent for brain MRI scan as i was convinced i had a tumor or something that also came back clear!

I think hearing other people stories & symtoms will help me alot, as i try to explain to people but they dont understand as they have never had anxiety.

Yes I have those same symptoms but mine are worse 24/7 off balance and 24/7 pins/needles burning in my arms and legs.. I have chest tightness, daily headaches and blurred vision.. I’ve had MRI, holter monitor, echocardiogram, ENT all tests are normal.. I’m seeing a rheumatologist now and terrified I may have an autoimmune.. I have severe anxiety, health anxiety and now depression because of these symptoms I feel like I’m going crazy.. I’m not sure if anxiety can do all this but this sucks..  Hope this makes you feel better.

      Thank you for your reply!

I no how u feel with the pins & needles i get that often, esp in my jaw, around chin etc. Really scares me as it feels like its going numb but isnt fully numb if you understand what i mean...

finding it hard to accept that anxiety can cause all this, everyday i feel like am going to die, hate this feeling.

How do u keep ur mind of the throat flutter etc, any tips? Its my biggest symptom at minute keep thinking its my heart! 😓

I don’t have throat flutter but have the constant feeling that I have a lump in my throat.. I don’t ever stop thinking about my symptoms because they are so severe I wish I could shut my brain off..  I downloaded a book on my phone called DARE it wonderful and I also bought the book Hope and help for your nerves by Claire Weekes.. They both basically say we need to except the sensations we’re feeling and to not be afraid of them.. Easier said then done.. Are you on any meds for your anxiety?

Hello Bluebell i can relate to this.

I know how you feel. I feel like i get the throat flutter. It actually feels like my breath gets taken away for 2 to 3 seconds.

I am 26 and had a ecg and doctors said i was fine. Im 14.5 stone so not overweight. I sometimes get shortness of breath.

I see your message and wanted to let you know your not alone.

    All the best

Thank you both for your replies.

I have been given medication for my anxiety but am too scared to take them due to the side effects.

My anxiety is at a real high past few weeks, am attending CBT but still cant control my mind to stop panicin when these symptoms happen.

Today, i am getting a weird senstation in my jaw, chin & tongue. Feels like jaw going tight & tongue feels numb and one side also jelly legs and weak like am walking on air feel like am going to drop.

Do use experience any of this?

I just want to feel normal again!

My aniexty has been at a high recently too. I believe its because i had a dry mouth and sore throat and didnt know what it was. Its brought my aniexty back on.

I can't say ive experienced the jaw but ive had the tongue feeling.

If youve recently been checked over by the doctors then i would take their word. There the professionals and its all a mind over matter thing. Its easier said then done but stay strong
