i am 52 and in peri, this is a nightmare because i suffer with serious health anxiety so think ive got something seriously wrong with me. i have throat issues amongst many other things but this is whats freaking me out the most. my throat has been cracking when im talking not all the time but occasionally, i also sometimes get the feeling that my throat is collapsing and i have to gasp for air, this also happens just before im falling asleep, and i jump up heart pounding. its really scary and its got worse recently. its really freaking me out. im also a noisy sleeper and make groaning type noises, it keeps my partner awake and then in turn he awakens me, so neither of us are getting any sleep. does anyone relate to this

YES i had this bad last yr. Two and a half yrs i have been in peri but last yr my symptoms hit a high.Throat closing, sometimes feeling like someone was strangling me in my sleep. I would jolt out of my sleep, panic attacks, heart racing, shaking, you name it. It was also hard for me to swallow, i would find myself chocking. Throat tightening up, also sore throat. It was pure hell, thank God it has subsided since then. As far as snoring , something that i never had before has also plagued me. My son says it is so loud, that he could hear me when he passes my bedroom door. This peri has left me a complete mess. I would recommend you try nasal strips. As far as the throat thing sweetie you have to wait it out. Praying for you. God bless

I have these symptoms also. It feels like my throat could close over especially when laying on my back. I sometimes make bubble noises when I swallow

I'm 52 also and had throat issue start last April. felt like there was a lump in my throat, scared me terribly. I would choke on meat etc. went to dr who said it was just anxiety. well I've never had anxiety before why now suddenly. did some research, Google Globus Hysteria. reading up on it and many other symptoms of menopause. it calmed me down knowing other women had experienced the same thing. My throat issue lasted 7 months before finally subsiding. Now I'm dealing with neck pain, heart palpitations, crazy vivid dreams and sleeplessness. Dont freak out. I'm guessing it's just good ol Menopause. hugs to you

This is one of the more "common" peri symptoms unfortunately. It was one of the first symptoms for me and as you can understand, spooked me out no end.
I came to know later on that it is mainly due to our stress / anxiety levels are high and due to the lowered hormonal levels, body is not able to manage the normal stress levels.
As we are any way anxious about our health, this adds to anxiety and thus increasing it more...a typical Catch 22.
The only remedy is try to manage stress / anxiety (yeah right...easier said than done!) and not focus so much on it. I get it now and again now a days, and when that happens, I just do deep breathing. It does not disappear, but makes it manageable.
My snoring is a problem though....could be due to weight issues 😄

SO TRUE. I have learned NOT to google ANY symptom because it just makes everything worse! My throat issue lasted about 7 moths before it finally went away. I was just starting to relax and now another couple symptoms are popping up. Im trying to stay calm and telling myself its all just menopause related. But it's so frusterating. Thank you for your response. This forum has been so so helpful!! much love to you and stay healthy!!
