Throat pain that goes away randomly then comes back

I've been having throat pain primarily when talking/singing for about 2 months now, originally it came on during a conversation where I was talking a little loud and excitedly and I had been singing hard earlier in the day. No noticeable hoarseness. Wasn't very smart and pushed myself further than I should have the next few days. Tried to rest it off but it kept coming back.

The pain is usually more like a bruising/straining pain rather than the normal sore throat that I'd associate with a cold. I also felt like something was stuck in my throat on the right side. My neck also gets inflamed from my collar bone to my ear on the right side. Still no noticeable hoarseness, sometimes I'd feel a little bit like my voice was being held back but I never really lost my voice so I wasn't sure what the problem was.

I went to doctors after about 3 weeks, didn't see anything. He had me take muscle relaxers and anti inflammatory medication for 2 weeks and it didn't help. About 3 days after I stop taking the medication I am with some friends and I push my voice too much and I'm in pain, when I got home I was leaning my head back to stretch the front of my neck and it seemed like the pain eased off almost instantly so I was thinking "so it is my neck?", over the next few days I'm suddenly able to talk normally again and I feel really good, I keep doing the stretches. After about a week of that the pain comes back and the stretching doesn't help. So now I'm really confused. I went on a trip and the pain and trouble talking was really present until I once again pushed my self and talked too much, and suddenly the pain subsided. The last time this happened the next day my throat felt sore in a way that I'd associate with a cold, totally unlike the pain I've had before, but the pain I had been having was gone for several days after.

I went to an ENT to get a look inside my throat to hopefully find out if it's my vocal cords or not, he uses an Endoscope and tells me "yes your vocal cords are red and inflamed, my guess is due to stress induced acid reflux and allergies." so he prescribed me a proton pump inhibitor and told me to change my diet and rest. Well it's been another 3 weeks and I'm still in pain. He also couldn't explain why the times when I've felt the best were after straining myself past the point of comfort (I'm not proud of doing this but sometimes at events it's too much work trying to explain to people that try to talk to you that you can't talk because then they ask why and it's just a mess)

The last thing is that I hadn't really even felt like I had acid reflux. Once he said it I thought "I guess I've kinda been burping a lot" and now I'm hyper aware of every time I feel pressure coming up. If anything I feel more heartburn since the two weeks of PPIs.

**I know this is really long, I wanted to explain everything in detail. Mainly the question I'm trying to get answered is why my pain gets better when I push myself past comfort. **
