Thrush that won't go away

Hi, I commented earlier this week about having thrush. I self medicated using a pessary and external cream over a week ago but it didn't work. I spoke to a doctor on thursday (over the phone, no appointment due to covid), she thought it was persistent thrush and prescribed me one Fluconazole 150mg tablet to take. If not better by tomorrow she said to ring back for swabs to check it is definitely thrush. The itching has gone but still have white lumpy discharge and some soreness/pain around vagina entrance and inside. Does thrush often linger this long and can it cause pain? It can't be an STI as only been with one person and same for him. I'm getting pretty down and fed up as it just doesn't seem to clear fully only seems to reduce the symptoms.

Thank you for reading, advice/help would be appreciated.

im experiencing the same thing. i have gotten yeast infections before. usually i get 1 every 2 or 3 months and I always treat it with fluconzale 150mg. they always end up going away. once i had to take 2 pills because the yeast infection was strong to the point where i would wipe and i bled a little so i took one and i was directed to take another one in 3 days if my symptoms did not improve. i am worried now though because in august i had 2 yeast infections and still healing from another one right now. i dont know what could be going on. i suggest taking a probiotic, drinking a lot of water, eating healthy. no sodas and sugary stuff like that. i have been doing all of this and the infection seems to be going away on its own without treatment. hope this helps.

thank you for your reply! I had swabs taken this week and am awaiting the results. I'm concerned as experiencing twinges and intermittent pain down below but from what I've read I cant find anything about thrush causing twinges down below?

i think its normal that it can cause pain. for me whenever im itchy and i cant help myself to scratch i feel very sore and when that happens it hurts to pee. is their any chance you can be pregnant? also what my doctor told me is that if a person has diabities yeast infections tend to happen more.

No chance of being pregnant as on the pill and my 'periods' are like clockwork. I've heard of the link with diabetes but my blood sugar levels have always been normal when tested and I don't have a sugary diet (quite health conscious). Its the pain that's worrying me as when I had thrush years ago i didn't have these twinges, I just had itching and discharge.

maybe this time it just came really bad like it did to me when i started bleeding. 1 pill of fluconzale is usally enough for me but when i experienced bleeding i took 2 and that solved my problem. did you only take 1 pill of fluconzale?

yeah, I was only prescribed the one and told to go back for swabs if it didn't work which I've done. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the results are.
