Thumb problems

good morning.

roughly 4 or 5 months ago, I was playing ball and dove for a ball, landing on my left wrist, and thumb specifically.

I left it in hopes it would heal itself. a few months afterwards I did the same thing. noticed there is a bump on the outside of of my thumb joint and quite painful. so I went in too see a doctor and they thought it might be a scaphoid fracture, but nothing. recently went again, and got another set of xrays done, and still no fracture and there was no dislocation seen.

the doctor now wants to wait a few weeks and possibly get a cat scan on my hand.

Has anyone had similar problems, what was the diagnoses or wondering what could be wrong???
