Thumb surgery

im having surgery soon to remove a bone in my thumb, the only thing I'm worried about is how do they numb my hand as I'm going to be awake during surgery, also do they put plaster on it afterwards?

    Hi not sure about the plaster ,,,but I would assume some support ,

    as for the surgary I presume it will be local anaesthetic ,by an injection to numb the area ,my daughter had a melonama removed by incision 2 weeks ago it was on her side ,she had local anaesthetic and she was fine ,good luck ,

    I had a local for an operation in my thigh recently although I needed several injections as it was a large area.Terribly easy and no problems. They will probably put some sort of protection on your thumb afterwards just in case of infection.

    Certainly do not worry, you will not feel anything. There is a main nerve which they will   numb and probably you will not be able to feel most of your arm.

    It does depends, but I doubt very much.

    The bit which I said:-  "Probably, but I doub it ",   refers to the plaster.
