Occasionally - last time was a couple weeks ago - I get a sore throat just on the right side, kinda deep feeling, and it goes away in a day or two. However, since my recent introduction to the world of possible Sjogren's, I've been googling more when I have odd body experiences. So I discovered that the area associated with the pain is in the area of my thyroid and it's tender to the touch.
And now, I guess because I was over zealous in prodding the area it hurts like crazy when I swallow. Normal/not normal?

I don't have any answers, but I wanted to reply to say this happens to me too (not the pain after prodding part), but the strange one-sided sore throat that I assume is a cold, but then just disappears a few days later. I've noticed this accompanies a 'lump in the throat' feeling.
Just to add, i'm 40, healthy and active and was positively diagnosed with SS two months through a lip biopsy.

Thanks for responding! I'm 65, feel absolutely fine and tested positive for ANA and SS-a antibodies due to some annoying but not painful peripheral neuropathy which was being assessed prior to starting chemo for early stage breast cancer.

The thyroid is inches below what most of us call the throat. It doesn't sound like infected larynx, which tends to worsen and is so painful that one can't swallow.
My thyroid doesn't like me pressing on it, that's for sure. Is it possible that irritants are causing the sore throat?
