Thyroid function test

Hi my Thyroid function test Serum TSH level was 5.1 mu/L, does this seem quite high, im in the uk rolleyes

    You're right, here in UK they like it to be below 4.2.

      i thought it was high, but the range is [0.3 - 5.5] so it comes back as normal neutral

      How weird, the TSH range on mine (in Wales) says 0.27-4.20

      I would push for them to do something. It's not bloody good enough it's a postcode lottery in this country ????

    I will tell you what I know.  If you are not on any thyroid theropy (Levo, Synthroid or the like) then anything over 4.5 mu/l is considered too high.  If you are on theropy, then anything over a 2 is high.  I had to go to a specialist to hear this.  My family practitioner kept telling me that everything was ok.  I finally went to a specialist and found out that because I was being over medicated, I now have hashimoto's disease. Thankfully it was caught in time before cancer started to grow.  

    Are you already on thyroid therapy (meds)?
