Thyroid nodule with calcification

Posted , 4 users are following.

I was just notified that I have 3 thyroid nodules, 2 of them are typical, benign nodules but 1 of them has calcification. My ENT wants to just watch it and ultrasound it again in a year. I've had many hypothyroid symptoms (dry skin, major weight gain, chronic fatigue etc..) and I don't know if this nodule with calcification could be causing some of that. Should I see an endrochrinologist for a second opinion? Or should I just chill out and wait a year to see what happens? I also read that a nodule with calcification has a higher chance of being cancer which freaks me out and waiting doesn't make sense if it could be cancer. Opinion? Experiences? Help me out here.

    Hi megan,

It's probably a good idea to do a fine needle biopsy just to be sure. And it will probably give you relief to know for sure that it is nothing to worry about.
