Thyroid nodules newly found on xray

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have had issues with fatigue and not feeling right for at least a month. I have had a fullness in my neck that feels like a tight collar. I had an ultrasound of my carotids for an unrelated issue and they found I have two thryoid nodules each over 1 cm in my thyroid. A complete thyroid ultrasound showed multiple nodules along with these two solid nodules. Also I am vitamin D deficient and my TSH came back normal. Should I be worried?

    Hi julie

I'm not sure about the thyroid nodules but i have been diagnosed with vit d deficiency, TSH normal, tightness around my throat same as you but mine is to do with stress coupled with health anxiety. Are you under alot of stress? Or have you been? Has a doctor felt or looked at your thyroid? They can usually say for sure if its stress related.

Oh and did they test for T4?

Not a lot of stress. I had a TIA and they found the nodules on an ultrasound of my carotids. T4 was normal. Dr has ordered an uptake and scan in the future. The nodules are too small to palpate.

The best advice i can give you is not to worry until you know you have something to worry about. Thyroid problems are usually easy to fix.

If you aren't feeling well, you should continue to bang on your GP or endocrinologist's door.

Thyroid issues can be difficult to fix if you don't obtain the correct tests.

    Best wishes. xx peace.

    Hi Julie

I agree with Charlotte you must get answers, at the very least I would hope they would do an ulstrasound with FNA to determine the status of the nodules! In my experience thyroid problems, even Graves as I had, can go into remission & then your GP will not bother with anymore tests! Try to demand an endocrinology referral this is stuff best left to the specialists!

At the same time Paulpenno is also correct, do not worry about something unless you know you have something to worry about!!

    All the best

    Hi Julie

I also have a thyroid nodule. If they are over 1cm they generally do a fin needle biopsy of them. Mine also had other features being more of a blood flow than they would like to see and solid too. I have had a biopsy just and it's back as they can't tell either way. I have been sent urgent now to ent because of this. They do an ultrasound score I think being u1 to u5. Mine was u3 so most likely benign but could be malignant. The biopsy doesn't hurt. My diary (lol) is on here headed thyroid nodule on scan.

    Hope you go on ok.
