It is only lately that a few reports have been negative Joanne.   Many were very positive before this.   I am one of the positive ones, and at the age of 73 have been taking Livial/Tibolone for many years.  Several times, over the years,  I have gone off them (due to doctor advice) but I have discovered I am far better off on them - in well-being and general health.   I have found a really good doctor (finally) who has told me that whatever I am doing suits my body.  I take one 2.5mg tablet every second day and that is what I will continue to do.

Over 70s have to eat healthily, walk daily, check their bloods etc annually, and take as little medication as possible - but if something suits you and helps you live a quality life then go for it.  Oh, and I do have a couple of wines for 'Happy Hour' each evening.

Hey ykay, I will drink to that!! Good for you, Livial is the greatest

thing that can happen to a woman, and I am happy to hear that

at 73 you are still on it.  Yes, we over 70 have to be very careful

with food and of course exercise, as much as possible, ...........

but at least we are looking better and healthier than our

grandmothers.............All the Best to you!! G

Hi Joanne keen to hear if you ever experienced bleeding in your early days starting Tiberlone. I had it last year and bled heavily and had to stop. Was so sad as I loved everything else this amazing drug did for mr. After few procedures to check for bleeding cause all came back clear so happily started it again yesterday. If the bleed happens again think I will ride it through and consider it just a side effect. Love to hear your experience? Thank you

Hi Beverley I have started Livial for the 2nd time - had a heavy bleed which had to be investigated so sadly had to stop - now all clear results and have again been on it around 6 weeks - I find it the best hrt for sadness and all other symptoms - it works quite quickly so hang in there. I have gained no weight in fact have lost weight - not wanting too just not much appetite. Give it a good go it made me feel brilliant last time. Hope this helps Beverly - try to stay busysmile

    Hi there

I am new to the site.  I am 40 and have been going through the menopause since 35.  I was put on elleste duet initially.  I had no symptoms other than hot flushes and not sleeping and no periods. which was initially how going through the menopause was detected.  I had very good response from them, felt better in myself because I was getting sleep and the hot flushes stopped, but a year in and they came back.  I struggled on for quite and while but then went back to GP who switched me to elleste conti.  I stayed on it for 3 months as I had dreadful pins and needles in my legs which coincided with a hot flush.  So he switched me back to duet.  I didn’t get the flushes so bad for a while so continued on it.  My GP had told me there isn’t a great deal of hrt for early menopause as you need testosterone, estrogen and progesterone.   He sent me to the gynea clinic who had prescribed tibolene.  I’ve been on it for 2 weeks and the hot flushes are 100 times worse my face is wet with sweat all night which is giving me spots and up until now I had fantastic skin, and I’m not sleeping great.  I haven't got any other symptoms like mood swings its just the hot flushes.  Do you think I should continue with these or go back to GP?  I'm really struggling sad  Help or thoughts please

Hi Sarah, I am 53 so our age difference may make it difficult to advise you --- but I have found Livial - Tiberlone to be the best thing ever.

First time I had a heavy bleed and had to go off to check for other causes for bleed - was all clear - but in the time off the HRT I wnet down really badly and felt hopeless and sad not to mention all the symptoms too many to mention.

2nd time around and been on it a month and already feel like a new person - energentic and happy again yes - love this stuff - just hope I dont get the heavy bleed again around 3 months - do not want to stop this wonderdrug again.

Try to eat clean and stay active in mind and body, this will help the time go by.

This site is just amazing for support, keep us posted.

Hi Sarah there's no harm checking with the Dr to see if he thinks these symptoms are usual and will pass. I'm in full menopause and have been on them 2 years and haven't experienced that kind of flush. I do still have a couple of minor one's. But otherwise Tibolone is brilliant and does everything it says on the box. After trialing many others I would certainly recommend it :-)

Thanks for your support.  I feel worse now that ever before.  I'm only 40 and just feel absolutely pants.  I have a relatively healthy lifestyle anyway, I dont drink, smoke etc as I have back and hip problems and cant exercise so try and compensate by eating healthily.

I will give them a month and then go back to my GP.  Thanks smile

I think and don't take this as me judging , women reach an age were alcohol has not health benefits what so ever ,I used to drink like we all do but I am off over 8 years now keep fit eat healthy well I do eat chocolate ice cream we all have our vices but truly alcohol not great for women on the menopause , I think when we young a great party boost but to much socialising revolves around drinking and having a good time .

Hi rhino how long have you been on tibolene , reason asking we same age , I have been on over year and feel great apart from spotting like a light period every 12 weeks o feel ok, I think this is one of the side affects , I will mention to my dr but it does feel normal as I get like pmt and a bleed well more dark discharge, I was on elleste duo so used to have a monthly bled on that any way .
