sad Hello everyone/anyone, my pain started nearly two years ago with electric shock type pains in my upper left chest they would stop me in my tracks as though I had been zapped, after several A&E visits tests etc. i was told it was not cardio but had no diagnosis, this has continued but with more & more frequent episodes of severe ripping/burning pain in the chest when it hurts to breathe, once again last week i was back in A & E where a doctor said i possibly had Tiezes but offered no treatment except co-codamol which do nothing for the pain, at present the pain is constant with frequent 'bad' episodes, where i try to tell myself OK stay calm its not a heart attack but it sure feels like one! My life is on hold, i have stopped playing the flute in case that aggravated it, i have stopped doing most things, does anyone recognise the above symptoms, i should also add i live with a very unsympathetic partner who thinks that as i've had a diagnosis i am now ok!

pepsib, I agree with all you say. I have had it for 4 years, I am 55 consider myself to be alive if not fit. It does feel like a heart attack. But this has been checked many times - even an angigram. Clear as a bell. Pain killers do not work, I have asked for morpheen but alas no. The condition makes it impossible to stand for any length of time, walking is like climbing a mountain, even sitting down the pain does not go away. Bresathing I find is fairly good considreing - just concentrate and breathe slowly.

Can't recommend any cure or anything to take for relief, just take it as it comes I'm afraid. Best of luck.

:?: I have had Chondritis suggested by GP. Have had this condition for several years recurring about every year and following visit to A&E pleurisy has been diagnosed on every occasion. Have always gone to A&E since it has always started in the middle of the night. Most recently my GP suggested Chondritis. All chest x-rays have been clear and ECGs also. My sysmptoms sound just like those mentioned. My attacks always commence very suddenly in the middle of the night and are on the right side. I experience severe pain when breathing. I have to sit up to ease the pain. The pain is severe only for 24 hours then it begins to subside. I usually take complete rest at this stage .... no option really as it is too painful to do much else. I also feel excruiatingly tired during this phase. The pain becomes a dull persistent ache just under right breast which subsides eventually after about 2 weeks resting with a slow rehabitilation walking and becoming active again in the 2nd week. Spasmodic pain can last for months.Have always had injection for pain relief when presenting at A&E. From now on I shall monitor activities prior to attack, on this occasion had a virus with a really persistent cough so am assuming this was the antecedent.
