tietzes syndrome following by pass surgery

Had by pass 2 years ago, pain and swelling in left breast and shoulder since then, did not help when I returned to work after 6 months. Job involves heavy lifting and made things much worse, I have seen a neurologist, chest surgeon, heart surgeon, rheumatologist, two general practioners, holostic doctor, none of them able to offer any real advice to ease the pain, having a cortisone trigger point injection this Sunday, if that does not help then it is acupuncture then maybe ultra sound, the last resort is the possibility of surgery, unable to return to previous work and now on light duties, unable to hold phone in left hand for longer than a couple of minutes, beginning to accept that you have to live with this chronic pain, very little can be done for you as no specialist exists, Gabopentin and Dynamint balm cream helps a little, keep smiling!

    Hi Buddyboy01,

Sorry to hear you are suffering too, ive had Tietze for so long now i just live with it...Been hospitalized a couple of times but nothing seems to help... Ive not had an attack for a wee while now so fingers crossed it stays that way..but as always an attack will appear one day. I cope by sitting down as soon as i feel one starting and just really relaxing my body and breathing very slowly to calm down the pains that shoot through  my chest. Sometimes i can go a few months with pains on a regular daily basis, when this happens it is very tiring and then i can be a few months without as i am just now. i had an injury to my sternum many years ago ( i got knocked out by a Blackface Male Sheep when he charged at me} if i had known i was to suffer for so many years later i sure as hell would have had him on a plate with mint sauce!!!

You take care and i hope you dont suffer  to much with the pain.

    Isobel

    Hi!!!

i can't tell you how nice it is to know I'm not the only person who has this awful condition yet is getting absolutely nowhere with it. I've had Tietze syndrome since March, it came on suddenly after a day at work. I went to A&E thinking I was having a heart attack only to be discharged with anemia.

Now 8 months on I have seen several doctors who know nothing about the condition and have very little idea how to treat it, been referred to a rheumatologist, hopefully for some steroid injections.

i hope your not suffering with  too much pain, best wishes
