Tight Chest 24/7, feeling heavy and weak

Hello, since 9 months I started feeling Tightness in the Chest/sternum, heaviness, weakness and sometimes a stuck food or gerd in the Esophagus (with sour taste in the morning). Its from the second i wake up to the moment i go to sleep. Sometimes after i eat this dull pain fades and replaced by stomach fullness. I had Heart tests (EKG, Echocardiography), which came out fine. So the doctors told me my heart is not the problem, but what is? I had a regular chest X-ray without barium which didn't show i have any problem. I don't know if this makes any sense but, i have constipation most of the days, and when i have, feel like the gerd\stuck food is more liqued and can result of some of it in my mouth. I take omperzole for a week now, no improvment.

Would to know about possible problems i might have. Sorry for my english

I had similar symptoms and then a couple months later the acid burn started. I was diagnosed with reflux and gastroparesis. Omperzole did nothing for me although it will take a couple weeks to kick in fully. I took nexium. Well, the generic of nexium. That worked great. I'm in the U.S. so not

Sure if that's options for u if u are in uk.

I think your problem could be your constipation,I think you should get something from your doctor for this problem and maybe put more fibre in your diet

    Hi James

I too had chest tightness, I felt like I could nt breathe. Other symtoms included bloating, excessive saliva and something stuck in my throat constantly.

My doctor said I had chronic reflux , I was prescribed lansoprazole 30mg, gaviscon, inhaler and antibiotics. As I had a lung infection from acid. I did nt feel better after a month. I went back and lansoprazole was doubled to 60 mg. after 2 months just starting to feel better. Still have burping and bloating after food and drink but not as bad as when first started.

It's the acid causing chest problems, which takes time to calm down and heal. Certain foods and stress seem to make things worse. Keep on with the meds as it took 2 months for me to improve. I felt panic at first as thought I had heart or lung problems.

The more I stressed the worse it got till I knew what was causing it.

hi James I have suffered for months and was advised to have an endoscopy which I was very reluctant to do. However I have now had one and the results show that I have Barretts Oesophagus and will need to take medication for the rest of my life as well as regular endoscopes as there us a small chance that the cells can become cancerous. So I would advise you to see your GP and ask for this test as soon as possible. Good luck!
