Tightening feeling

Hi all

Still on the list waiting to get my gallbladder removed and hernia repaired 😣

All day today I have been getting a really strange tightening sensation in my lower rib cage, almost feels as if there are a pair of hands inside me squeezing everything, it's not painful but slightly uncomfortable and a very strange sensation, I also feel really full. Does anybody else ever get this and have any idea as to what causes it?

Not sure exactly but can be the diaphragm contracting as it is irritated by Gb or something else. I have had this and it reminded me of contractions in labour! Anti spasmodic med might help, buscopan maybe. I also applied a wheat bag and some aromatherapy massage oil to the abdomen. If you have hiatal hernia (I have this as well - sigh!) you may get oesphageal spasms I believe so might be that, or irritation from something you ate. Hope u soon feel better...

Hi Cynthia, yes it is a bit like contractions during labour, only not as painful thank god! I use a hot water bottle but sometimes find that it annoys me as it's too hot, wheat bag is a good idea though, will give that a go, thanks x

Yes! I get it all the time. I know exactly what you mean. I worry when I get that. It used to be a precursor to an attack coming but touch wood, I've only had 2 full attacks since October. I eat little and often and very low fat. That seems to have helped prevent frequent or serious attacks

Hi lisa, think you may be right about it coming before an attack, I had an attack last Saturday, only mild this time and felt like this during the day, fingers crossed it is not a bad sign for tonight 😣

I do hope you are OK. As soon as I get that tightening I take Buscopan. It's different for everyone I know but touch wood, that seems to prevent an attack. Have you got a date yet? You sound sooo similar to me.
