Tightness in throat that comes and goes

So ever since September, I noticed a tight band around my throat that comes and goes. The first time I noticed it, I felt like breathing was difficult so I went to the hospital. They said I had asthma so they gave me albuterol. Only little luck with the inhaler, though the throat tightness refuses to go away. So I made an appt with my doctor who told me it sounded like acid reflux and that Nexium helped, but I guess it's not acid reflux bc it did help with things I really didn't need help with. 😆 So as a result, my family always suggests these remedies like lemon and water or cinnamon and honey...and others. While I have some belief in that, it still won't do...at least not for immediate relief!

I'll be in school or in class when suddenly my throat feels like it will close again and I have to keep swallowing so it feels more comfortable. It has kind of started to reduce my quality of life...I had to leave home from school early once and from friends homes/events because I felt like I was being choked by my own tightening throat muscles. The feeling additionally increases after I eat, so I've tried to avoid meals that are overly greasy (which is good I guess) and anything too high in citrus (or else the acids seep into the back of my throat and will increase the discomfort of my throat tightness.)

A little side note, the pollen allergies in my home region are some of the highest, and I'm even wondering if that's also the case.

Are you suffering from any sort of stress in your life, maybe at school? This can cause the type of tight throat you are describing. Try Googling "Globus" to read about the causes and self help.

      Thank you for your reply.

Come to think of it, it could be a contributor since it does come and go...and last week I wrote two seven page essays and a few shorter ones back to back, took my midterms, had homework, etc... which has caused a great deal of stress. Aside from that, I'm trying to get another job, I just lost mine.

I guess that it could be that all along...

    Hi.

It sounds like an allergic reaction to something in your enviroment or something you are eating or using example: Perfume/Deodrents/shampoosetc. I think you should go for a skin test which will test for these, through your G.P.

    Goodluck.
