Hi, i have been experiencing tingling sensation in both of my feets and my hands and burning sensation in my upper thigh and on by lower back, butt.

i have been consulting doctors from Neurologists to genral practitioners. Findings are as under: TSH elevated at 65, othe than that no medical issues.

the doctors suspected MS and advised me to go for an MRI of brain and spine scan. the results were neagtive. i had also gone for an ANA blood test and results were neagtive.

as for medicines i am being provided with Vitmin E and B12 along with some salts.

the problem has been deterioating from day to day and slowly it has started effecting my work etc

any clue??? as to what i am facing??? should i go for some other tests

thanks

I'm on the drug Neurontin for burning mouth syndrome. I have heard of people with symptoms like yours and Neurontin seems to be an effective choice. Lest I second guess you doctor maybe you could take it over with him(her)

    HI there LM

I too have had pins and needle in my hands and feet, I was told it was due to my degenerative discs which was confirmed with and x-ray then MRI of my spine, as I have had severe back/hip pain for sometime!!! I am one of the unfortunate ones that gets pain as you can have the degenerative discs and not get pain too, as with the pins and needles this is because a nerve in your spine could be pressed on due to the ddd.

    Kind regards

    Hi there Willow11

Have you had a MRI as this will indicate if you have disc problems? Once the results are back, your doctor will advise you of the findings? I am so sorry you have been suffering for so long, its nothing to be ashamed of, its just one of those things that happens to some of us? I guess you have had blood tests checking for anemia etc? I get pain as well in my joints and so my GP has taken various blood tests to rule out what it isn't, that is probably what they will do for you too, so don't be alarmed as it is a procedure they do!!

    Take care

OK Im not a doctor but I am a health care professional and would like to add some information for those who are suffering with PN or nerve pain. I can only stress the importance of looking after yourself through diet exercise. quality sleep and maybe altering your life style as much as possible. First of all If you smoke you should give it up completely. ( you can get help from your chemist or GP on this matter) If you drink alchol you should try and keep your consumption down to an absolute minimum ( high sugar levels in beer etc and alcohol will inflame your problem) If you are a heavy drinker take medical advice before packing up drinking all together. One of the key factors to helping your problem is to get the correct advice from a medical professional ie a neurologist. GPs do not treat PN usually they need to refer you to a hospital. Diet is so important You need to google foodstuffs that help regenerate nerve endings You will find a list of foods which will help you and needless to say if you are overwheight try to loose as much as you can again eating the right stuff combined with exercise will help matters. I think you will get similar advice from your Dr . Try eating Spinach, Cress, Avacado, Fish. High Cocoa Chocolate Nuts including wallnuts and Brazils Loads of fresh fruit and veg . Cut out high saturated fats such as pastries fat from meats etc you will find many websites with what is healthy eating and what is not. Good Luck and I hope you find these suggestions helpfull

    Hi,

I just read your post from a  year ago.  I am going through the exact same medical issues as you are......except I am not having any problems in the lower back area.  I have seen a neurologist and I am currently scheduled for mri of the brain, cervical, thoracic and lumber area.   I am curious to find out how you made out.  I am on Lyrica....started today.

Let me know how things turned out for you.  Thanksrolleyes

Hi I saw this, guess it is a long time ago now so I hope you have had some luck finding out what it is.  I had the same sort of symptoms for several years - in the end I asked my doctor if I could get a private session with a neurologist (she said it would take 2 years on the NHS) and I was glad I did as I got a diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy immediately.  No real help as to pain medication so far but at least I know.  Chronic pain is awful isnt it.  Get a nerve conduction test done by a neurologist.

Try getting tested for celiac disease

My daughter has numbness in her fingers burning on the top of one hand her toes cramp and are numb plus she has numbness on her left side of calf. She was tested with endoscopy with biopsies are came up positive for celiac. Perifial nurophothy is a symptom of the disease.

She's been gluten free for 8 months but still has the nurophothy. It's horrible

I was diagnosed with painful neuropothy in my feet.  Pins and needles, burning/freezing.  Unable to walk well.  I do not have diabetes.  I do not have any other medical problem.  This was about 20 years ago.  I take a bunch of pills at night just to sleep through the pain enough to get a little sleep.  It has all taken a toll on my, Ive put on weight because I dont sleep much, and on and on.  I have been to many doctors and sought many treatments/cures.  Because of ObamaCare my health insurance has denied to cover some of the pills that give me relief.  My friend told me his wife was diagnosed with a disease and they started going to a Homeopathic/Holistic Dr. here in Denver Colorado.  He has put me on a very strict eating plan, gives me buckets of natural suppliments, gives me accupuncture, massage, chiropractic and for the first time in 20 years I have relief from the pain.  I am far from cured but the days of calm bring tears to my eyes.  Im down 25 lbs and down to 2 drugs a night to sleep from 6.  He is saving me when I thought my future was so bleek.

I forgot to mention, health insurance does not cover holistic medicine.  Because I will one day be well.  It is expensive as everything is out of pocket but he is literally changing my life.
