Tinitus

I have been taking ramipril for a few months & seem to have had tinitus ever since. My doctor say's that it can not be caused by the tablets but it seems quite likely to me. On the side effects it does state hearing disturbances and this really is a disturbance!! Is anyone else suffering with this or am I alone. I feel like coming off of the medication as my bp has not come down anyway.

I have now been on ramapril for 3 years, during which time, I have developed tinnitus, which is making me very miserable and tired.

My doctor also said it could not be the medicine. her advice? \"get used to it\"

    Another vote for tinnitus.

I have been on ramipril for several years, and although I had sinus-induced tinnitus before, it has certainly worsened.

Recently I was advised to increase my dose from 5mg per day to 7.5. Result? Utterly DEAFENING tinnitus, which lessened and diminished as soon as I reverted to my 5mg dose. I am now thinking about lowering that to 2.5, and monitoring my BP, to see what happens.

    Allen.

I have been taking Ramipril 2.5mgms for approx 3 years and have experienced tiredness.

7 days ago after a visit to the GP for symptoms of tiredness, ringing in my head and nausea, disturbed vision and dizziness.

I was prescribed 5mgms of Ramipril and a full blood test.

Since increasing the dose I have felt worse in relation to my symtoms.

I have been extremely concerned and have in desperation logged on to find some answers at this late hour as I feel so awful.

I will be reducing the dose to the original 2.5 tomorrow and seeking advice from my GP and an alternative as I understand from friends who suffer from hypertension that there are drugs with no side effects.

I have been appalled at the number of people who have described similar symtoms without just cause.

Thanks for taking the time to put these comments on this site as I don't feel that I am going mad now as I am not alone with this.
