tinnitus and blocked nose for ages - cancer??

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi! I've had tinnitus for about four months, as well as nearly constant sore throat and runny/stuffy nose. I have also been suffering from anxiety - could all these be related or could it be sth. more serious? I am dead scared of getting cancer ! Please help!!!

What you are describing are typical anxiety-related symptoms.

Believe me, having an anxiety condition is bad enough without allowing it to conjour-up all sorts of imaginary ailments.

For the above reason I would like you to consider going to see your doctor with a view to getting some treatment for the root of the problem, namely your anxiety.

I would add that among other things tinnitus can be caused by a build-up of earwax, an inner ear infection and hypertension (high blood pressure). In an existing condition of tinnitus stress can also tend to exaggerate the condition.

it is so weird cos I used to have occasional bouts of tinnitus as a child, but it would go after a couple of minutes - now it just seems constant.

Well I don't think it is serious, more of an annoyance, but if it really bothers you that is another reason to go back to your doctor and get it looked at.

Hi, I also have tinnitus caused by anxiety I think. In regards to the stuffy nose and sore throat, I went through a stage of that for a few weeks but it passed. It's unlikely to be cancer.

hi Amy! Thanks. Actually, having just recovered from a panic attack, I realise this post was rather stupid... rolleyes awks. Anyway, how long has your tinnitus been going on for?

It's not stupid I have a lot of theories about my health which aren't true! I've had the ringing for about a month. I thought it was caused by amitriptyline, but I stopped them and the ringing hasn't gone yet!

mine tends to happen at night - or when I am particularly stressed. SO glad someone else is feeling the same way!
