Tinnitus and debilitating headaches 24/7
Posted , 3 users are following.
Although there are a few hours each day where I am symptom free, excluding the tinnitus, I suffer from debilitating headaches (mainly at my temples) and a constant ringing in my ears. This has been the case for as long as I can remember.
Recent sinus x-rays ruled out any inner ear infection or actual sinus issue. I think it's the headache that is creating the feeling of severe sinus pressure.
Unfortunately, I've been trying to kill the headache pain with Excedrin for many years, often taking several doses a day. It really doesn't help. Caffeine addiction?
My question is this : What type of doc or specialist (online doc perhaps) would most appropriately be able to solve the problem once and for all? I honestly can't go on like this.
Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Hello,
I will tell you what we have done. My wife has endured 24/7 headaches since 2007 (12 years) with some relief gained by using the maximum dosage allowed of Tramadol. Hydro and Oxy codone work better to relieve the pain, but no doctor seems to want to prescribe them for very long. The Tramadol keeps the pain in the 7/8 range for her. When she hits 9 we head for the ER. We have tried the following treatments with no change to the pain: Physical therapy, neurologist, psychologist, psychiatrist, interventional radiologist, dentist, ENT's and several "pain" clinics. Neurology and psychiatry say that anxiety and depression are the primary cause of the headache. The mind altering drugs that they prescribed have pushed her into dementia with no chance for reversal. In this regard her treatment has made her life more miserable than before treatment from neurology and psychiatry. I have read many instances of 24/7 pain, but HAVE NEVER read a single case of cure. If we ever find the solution you can bet that I will be telling the world on every pain bulletin board on the web. I hope that you find your solution and hope that you will "tell the world" when you do. I will be watching for the cure.

I'm sorry to hear this as I know those headaches can be quite awful.. Have you tried acupuncture for your headaches? I'm sure not a miracle cure BUT I thought I read that it can help.. May want to look into it.

Here's another.. One of my kids friends dad suffers from 'cluster headaches' BUT I remember her telling me that when he gets these, he has an oxygen tank which I guess makes them bearable.. Never heard anything like that until she told me.. Something else to look into perhaps.

Thanks Kelly,
Acupuncture was done during physical therapy along with dry needling and stretching. Keep those suggestions coming, though. While we have completed a number of options I am sure that there are more out there.
