tinnitus and ear irrigtation

i have strong tinnitus in one of my ears and am worried that it was caused by ear irrigaion.

i have had my ears irrigated on the past and before carrying out the procedure the nurses always told me to use softening drops for a week

5 months ago i went to a loacal GP and was told that my ears had a lot of wax. she then began to irrigate my left ear with a water irrigator (i found this strange as i had always been told to use softening drops). the left ear irrigation took quite a while maybe 7 mins and i did feel 3 or 4 pinch feels during it. after she had doe it she briefly put the irrigator in my right ear but told me to use drops on the right ear.

i went back to the gp to get second ear irrigatred and the wax came out in a few second. i was told that fluid had built up behind the left ear during the week after the irrigation and i was put on steriods to drain it.

i now have pretty bat tinnitus in my left ear since the irrigation.

can ear irrigation cause tinnitus and if so how dose it do this. i really regret going to that gp and its eating me up wondering if the procdure cause this debilitation condition. will i have this for the rest of my life??

please help if you can

Hi Benny..sorry to hear that. I have severe Tinnitus in both ears 24/7 The doctor told me there was nothing that can be done to cure this problem. He told me to buy a small radio and place it under the pillow!

What am I to do during the day? strap it to my head? I have no faith in doctors at all. Regards Anne

Look dude, dont worry too much, mine was noise induced and i can hear that sucker day and night 24/7 if you really want your life back, im sorry to telk you but clubs arent the best place for someone with tinnitus bro, the trick i have learned quick is to wear earplugs all day so when you take them off, you notice it way less than just hearing it with out them, learn to hesr it and learn to tolerate it, and it wilk all become better in time, i promise you, i know it it annoying but its the trick, and yeah i have had hesring tests but i just laugh at the doctors because they tell me my hearing is deteriorating and i csn hear perfectly, so that tells me they dont know squat about tinnitus and thats a fact, my T is so loud and it sometimes hurt my ears but when i get bussy playing pool, navigating through the internet searching for answers i dont notice it, i stop and there it is, time makes you better at ignoring it, i know what it feels like to judt think about that ugly noise, dont be scsred my friend, dont falk into that vicious circle thst make us paranoid, time wilk be on your side, now that i have this crap lol, i come to find out thst my Dsd is got it, 2 of my sisters got it, and they alk tell me the same thing, its hard at first due ti the depression and that guilt we all have, but its part of the symptoms, give it time and concentrste on the thingd you lime to do the most, so forget about clubbing my young friend,  it will only mske it worse and im sure you dont want that bud, i promise you that it will all be ok, nobody is going msd or gonna die, only HABITUATION is the answer and cure for it at the moment, so yeah it sounds bad and i hate ti say what them ENTs say every time with a smerk on their fsce, GET USED TO IT, but thats the sad truth, once you habituate it will all be a little better, yoh can ask me and message me anytime you want buddy, i can give you tips and listen to you and everybody in this blog, i like to help those who need a friend with tinnitus, God bless you and help you habituate quick, you can do it my friend!

Habituation means when you go past that stage of accepting and start living with it, the sou d dont botbrr you no more unless its real quiet, sometimes even if there is no noise you wont be aware of it and wont hesr it untill you really want to, our brain is amazing, i had a secon onset because i went to a very loud pkace and when i got out of there my ears were going crazy beeping like hell, but of course, once you achieve habituation the second time around is not as bad and habituate a little quicker, but very important, learn to accept it and live with it, it will make it easy on you and help habituate faster, i personally went to a quiet room and listen to it trying to relax listening to it, my brain accepted it and my habituation was faster, there is no cure nor a therapy but the one you all aquire by adapting, i have it bad, and i can do it, that means you all can, and im sure you will, mark my words, you WILL achieve it, i promise you, just accept it, there is thousands of us if not millions of us, we are not alone! GOD bless you and help you achieve habituation fast!

I have had ringing in one ear for years. I went to a specialist who said its aging ears and I will have to live with it forever. I was told there is nothing that can be done. It's horrible. It drives me crazy....

Yes, unfortunately that is true, but our cure is within us, habituation!, is the ability to live and ignore the sound, the brain is a very valuable tool, a miracle,....lets just say that i was told i had cancer but i wasnt gonna die, the cancer was just there but it would not kill me, eventually i would have to live with the fact that i had cancer and keep on with my life, a normal life but with cancer, tinnitus is not quite the same, but some people consider the noise as something worse, i would say in a way it is worse or just as bad, but when we learn to cope with it, ..it be just a matter of time, whi knows, maybe in the near future there will be a cure, be optimistic and have faith in yourself, what dont kill you makes you stronger, read alot of positive comments, it helps, ignore negative comments though they are bad for our confidence and self esteem, it is possible to live a normal life, adapt and live life to the fullest, just avoid loud places or whatever effects your tinnitus volume, even if its loud, you will adapt eventually, its a process within our brsin, some people just take longer to aquire it...

yes i know how you feel, this disorder is tough to get used to. do you have hearing loss? i.e. did you go for a hearing test?

in my case im convinced that a doctor who irrigated my ear caused the tinnitus. the doctor didnt use softening drops and irrigated my ear the day i went into her...... i feel like taking the practice to court or something but that wont cure the sounds i hear....

i find listening to a tone that matches the sound i hear stops the sound for a minute. but nothing has helped me. i tried accupuncture, im taking vitamin b12 at the moment to see if it dose anything (i read that this was given to war veterans who suffered hearing loss?
