Have you had a history of stress/anxiety type issues? I have and it seems to be a commonality it a lot of the people I come across. Looking back a lot of years when I was in my 20's I remember having some weird symptoms like this with a low fever and an alternative medicine md put me on a anti-viral(famvir) and anti-fungal(diflucan) for 90 days and I was cured. I'm about to see her again.

Hi Mark,
Mine started with a car crash (not me who caused it) I was injured and I woke with brain fog and like I'd not slept. Same ever since really. Anxiety wise, there does seem a link in how we present ourselves? I knew I had PTSD symptoms, these to me were not expected as I thought I'd be fine as I'd managed to be OK directly after the incident. But, I was terrified in the carpark of the hospital. I knew something wasn't right and knew it was linked to the incident and thus felt OK with that? However, my body is now more likely to 'gasp' react in a more anxious way and sometimes my symptoms are shaking when I don't feel nervous so, I feel we look or sound more anxiou sometimes. I have a friend with CFS/me and she does the similar reactions to me. I don't think it's anxiety as I used to work in psychological therapies but, I think the condition heightens our awareness. By the way, my friend's trigger was a virus.
If you don't think it's anxiety too, tell your doctor that you want referring to a specialist. You in the UK?

Hi Mark,
I was told by doctors, physiology and a psychotherapist that it would take time as I'd had quite a nasty experience and my body and mind were learning to deal with that. They were all genuinely caring towards my condition and no one mentioned CFS/me. It was 18 months before i suggested i may have it as my friends doctor said they believed they had post viral fatigue which carried on into CFS/me. One of the gps at their surgery even went on training about the condition. My GP said OK, let's refer you to the CFS/me service. I am not saying that it's easy ,there's usually a waiting list and there aren't many clinics. Mine was in Leeds West Yorkshire, an hour and a half away. The plus is that once they can see that your blood tests are normal but you have these debilitating symptoms, you get heard ! They can link you with other people who have the condition, give you support and advice etc. Their support is limited though due to it being within the NHS and varies from county to county with some areas getting a much better provision than others. I opted for one to one work with a specialist nurse and felt supported and did benefit although I'm still With the symptoms.
Hope you get somewhere with this. There are other things that cause these symptoms like Lyme's and vitamin d deficiency too that aren't necessarily tested for. You could Google the symptoms and see if they fit for you. Lyme's is increasing in the UK it seems.
Hope this helps

Hi Mark,
It's coming up to five years here for me. I think with Ms the myelin is affected in the nerves and they can test for that. Not sure re the fatigue with Ms.
Good luck with your search. If it is CFS/me, people do recover so don't give up hope.
Best wishes

Mine started after a very severe lung based flu and subsequent eye infections. I was sick for about a month or so with a pretty high fever, 103 for a couple days with about 100 on both ends for a few days.
I'm dumping info in my thread here but anxiety has probably only made my issues worse, cause it's usually at 2am when i'm feeling off and can't sleep but am so tired that it puts me in a loop of bad thoughts and frustration.
I'm trying to take supplements and get B12 boosters. Running the gammit of tests and such. I don't even know if I have ME but so far nothing else has surfaced with my tests where it could be anything else.
I have
1. Very bad brain fog. Do stupid things like lighting a charcoal bbq but then closing all the vents? I had to laugh at myself on that one.
2. Trouble sleeping. It's not just about getting comfortable. i would yawn 40 times but it wouldn't feel satisfying. Some breathes seem shallow. Foggy confused mind. Then thinking too much about it.
3. Body fatigue, muscles just seem drained all the time
4. Headaches
5. Sore neck
6. Some days are good, some are great, some are bad. It's very up and down.
7. Heart palpatations, always at night when lying down. Some nights are worse than others.
8. I'm a 42 male
9. All tests ok, heart, blood, ENT, neuro. I did have a positive EBV though but it may be a red herring.
