TKR 13 weeks

Posted , 6 users are following.

Just wanted to say that at 13 weeks now I feel that I am well on the road to recovery.  Have been driving since christmas which gave me my independence back and I am now due back at work next Monday,9 Feb on a phased return.

Had my first soak in the bath last night and I surprised myself that I could get in and out without too many problems.  My husband was on call just in case I couldn't get out but I managed to raise myself up to stand up and climb out of the bath.  I also noticed that as I was topping up the water I was sat cross legged and hadn't realised. Only thing I can't do like most others is kneel, that thought feels me with utter dread.

Onwards and upwards now, we all get there eventually!

    Well done.

Please wish me luck for knee number two on 18th March!

Having a bath is bliss isn't it.  Just hope I'll be able to manage with two dodgy knees.  Getting in OK. Getting out not a pretty sight.

      Hi Lynn,

So good to see your name and post again!

I am sending good thoughts & well wishes to you on your next TKR coming up! It should not be as frightening and unknown to you this time around, but I'm sure you are not looking forward to that long journey to recovery! Just keep thinking how good you will feel with both knees "repaired". You'll be able to do lots of fun things on your daughters ranch smile

Good luck to you Lynn! Betty

Thanks Betty.  Absolutely dreading it, especially as I feel I am just getting back to normal.  At least I have my daughter's visit to look forward to first - she arrives on 1st March for a week.  It will be the first time she has met her newest nephew, too.

      How are you progressing?

Shelley:  Might want to leave the kneeling for a while.  At around 5-6 weeks I was feeling good enough that I tried kneeling and it worked!  So, being exuberant and the bathrooms and kitchen not having a good scrubbing since before my surgery I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed all 3 floors.  I am now 10 weeks post surgery and still paying for that little exercise!  Guess I should have left the floors dirty a while longer!  Anyway, I'm getting around very well.  Walking about a mile every day, riding the stationary bike daily, doing all the chores around the house, driving, etc.  Still not sleeping through the night, but much better than better.  Oh, yes, I can still kneel, but try not to do so much of that.
