TN gammaknife experience

I am interested in people's experience following gamma knife procedure to treat TN. Did you continue to take anti-convulsants? Did you experience deadening of the face? Anything else important to know? I opted not to have cyber knife following the TN surgeon suggesting I would continue with anti-convalsants and possibly have symptoms of TN return within 4-5 years.

    Hello Susan,

I had Stereotactic Radiosurgery(Gamma Knife Radiation) 20 months ago, and I am now starting to feel all the side effects. Oh, it was a failure. Well, here they are: weakness of the mastication muscles for chewing, numbness on side of face that was done, pain on side of face that was done (anethesia dolorosa), eye numbness on side treated, irritation of the eyes, hearing loss, double vision, gait is off (balance), and difficulty swallowing. Oh, I have bi-lateral TN. Do not mean to alarm you, but ASK questions, and do RESEARCH, RESEARCH, AND MORE RESEARCH, until you are satisfied with what you find out. I hope everything works out for you, and may God Bless You with your decision.
