To tell or not to tell? [descision to go cold turkey]

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have gone cold turkey on coming off the Ven.

Comments from work have been

"You must let people know."

"You must notify a doctor"

etc.

I am interested in this topic as I work in a major Commonwealth Government agency. When I first had mental issues to do with the engagement breakdown:

~ one reaction from a former boss was to put me on a work plan, and have me accessed by a psych. 15mins later they told my workplace that I was obsessive.

I feel that I have the right to make my own descisions - in this case

but for RESPECT, and for assistance, I have told others, especially, my nearest workers, so that they inderstand and can assist if there are any wierd changes to my behaivour.

I did come off cold turkey a few years ago and then had to go back on because depression returned.  However, last year I came off very slowly, and so far am well, just a bit of anxiety.  I think it is up to you who you tell, but very sensible that you say people can help if they notice there are concerns for you.

Hope the sithdrawal symptoms don't last too long.  You and me both of this drug now.  Well done.  Take care

    Hi froggy2,

My experience and that of many others is that coming of Ven. is a very difficult and hellish experience even with a professionals reduction program in place ( usually over several months ). I would NEVER recommend cold turkey. Please contact your doctor and disscuss it with them.

    Good luck, DaveTTT

I took 10 months to withdraw and it was not a hellish experience.  That is because I took it very, very slowly.  It is a year now since I stopped, and I did not have withdrawals at all, honestly.  I am 73 years old, and not a strong or positive person, but I did it.  Hope you are managing OK Dave.

    Quick explanation of "Cold Turkey"

    1. Cold turkey is a simple dish, so CT means "I simply stopped taking the VF tablet"

    2. Funnily, but it referes to recovering Heroin addicts - VDF has beed described here as "worse than Heroin". Anyway, the addicts got cold fevers, and they got goose bumps which looks and feels like the skin of a cold turkey.

*Sigh* A Cold Turkey with Goose bumps.

So if said turkey struts around, does that mean the it is now a Cold Turkey with Goose bumps, Swanning around?.

2 beautiful days of cloudless sky.

on Sunday they started the burn offs at @2pm so had 6 hours of woodsmoke.

Eucalyptus is very distinctive smell, The sap is literally explosive - close to petrol, and the reason why bushfires are so dangerous here.

SO 2 weeks on from dropping the meds, the disorientation / zaps came back a bit more - but they:

    - are only 40% volume

    - causes 10% over balance feeling.

    - At someones birthday party, I was able to talk with more engagement and was able to drink a toast which I wasn't able to do before.

    - Food-wise, I was more hungry both while eating the food (which I guess I havent had for 20years at least) and looking forward to eating. [the VF was taken only since 2011 so something else is being unblocked for the moment.]

    - Emotion-wise, I am a bit more stonger in argument; standing up for myself for once, but I should be.

    - Had mouth ulcers for a few days, not sure if that is an issue or not.

    - LAST, Depression-wise - I'm wondering if I'm in the same area as you guys or not? I've been much more positive since the breakup than before. Maybe I originally should have just been given something that just delayed the shock symptoms.
